Middle of its segment, needs the roof space
The Leapton LP182*182-M-78-NB series are N-type TOPCon modules with a dual-glass design and bidirectional energy generation, designed for installations where stable production over a long period is crucial. Thanks to the N-type technology, the panel better handles typical operating losses and maintains high efficiency even in warmer conditions, which significantly improves the profitability of the investment in Polish conditions.
The dual-glass design increases resistance to environmental factors and makes it easier to maintain performance over time, while bifaciality allows for "collecting" additional reflected radiation from a bright surface - especially on industrial roofs, carports, PV farms, and structures with high albedo. This is a good choice for projects that aim to maximize energy yield from a limited area and reduce the risk of power drops. In practice, it stands out due to its combination of high reliability and predictable, long-term performance, which is often difficult to achieve in standard unidirectional modules.
Ranking
Signals from the data
Commercial and utility-scale.
Roofs where every square metre has to count, tight roof space and weight-limited structures.
Bottom 4% of the TOPCon 600-650 W segment, against a median of 227.7. Ranked 6,971st in the whole database.
Bottom 4% of the TOPCon 600-650 W segment, against a median of 22.80%. Ranked 7,000th in the whole database.
Bottom 5% of the TOPCon 600-650 W segment, against a median of 53.1. Ranked 10,502nd in the whole database.
N-type TOPCon cells deliver lower LID/LeTID degradation and better high-temperature performance (Pmax temperature coefficient of -0.3%/°C) compared to older PERC cells, translating into higher real-world annual yield, especially in summer.
The dual-glass build with 3.2 mm glass thickness improves mechanical and chemical durability, while bifaciality captures additional reflected irradiance from the ground - a strong advantage on industrial rooftops, carports, and ground-mount structures with high albedo.
The manufacturer guarantees 99% power after year one and 87.4% after 30 years - longer than the standard 25-year warranties offered by many competitors, improving LCOE predictability over the project lifetime.
Leapton Solar holds a BloombergNEF Tier-1 bankability classification and has operated since 2012 out of Japan, reducing financing risk for projects built on this series.
Power output up to 625 Wp across 156 cells and a 2465×1134 mm footprint reduces the module count needed to reach a target system size, lowering BoS costs (racking, wiring, labor).
Efficiency of 21.82-22.36% trails comparable 625 Wp-class modules such as Longi Hi-MO 7 (23.1%) and DAH Solar DHN-66Z16/DG and DHN-72R20/DG (23.14%) - a gap of roughly 1.3 pp means lower yield from the same roof area.
Leapton's annual production capacity (around 660 MW ahead of a planned expansion to 2 GW) is considerably smaller than leading tier-1 peers like Longi or JA Solar, which may mean longer lead times and less flexibility for large-volume contracts.
- Efficiency of 21.8% is 1.0pp below the TOPCon 600-650W median (22.8%)
- Power density of 218.2 W/m² is 9.5 W/m² below TOPCon 600-650W median (227.7 W/m²) - needs more roof space
- Temperature coefficient of -0.30%/°C matches the TOPCon 600-650W median
- At 34.3 kg (1.6 kg above TOPCon 600-650W median of 32.7 kg), requires checking roof load capacity
- Bifacial design (80% factor) captures reflected light - adds 4-12% yield on ground-mount or white roof
