Middle of its segment, weak in heat
The Kyocera KU-60 1000V series are modules designed for installations operating at higher DC voltages - this makes it easier to build longer strings and reduce losses and the complexity of cabling in larger systems. This solution, based on multi-crystalline solar cells, is designed for stable, predictable performance in real conditions on Polish roofs and PV farms. A key feature of this series is its robust design: a rigid frame made of anodized aluminum provides mechanical strength, while factory-fitted MC4 connectors simplify installation and maintenance. Another important advantage in practical design is positive power tolerance - this minimizes the risk that the actual output will be lower than expected. The KU-60 1000V will be suitable for installers and designers who want to optimize BOS balance in commercial, industrial, and ground-mounted installations, where string compatibility, parameter repeatability, and long-term reliability are important.

Signals from the data
Commercial.
Hot climates, tight roof space and roofs where every square metre has to count.
Bottom 3% of the 170-370 W band, against a median of -0.360. Ranked 13,877th in the whole database.
Bottom 21% of the 170-370 W band, against a median of 18.09%.
Bottom 22% of the 170-370 W band, against a median of 180.4.
The reinforced frame construction improves mechanical resistance to snow and wind loads, relevant for rooftop and ground-mount installations under Polish climate conditions.
Positive power tolerance reduces the risk of actual energy yield falling below the nameplate rating - important for energy balance calculations in large commercial installations.
Standard MC4 connectors simplify installation, shorten setup time, and ease servicing or module replacement within existing strings.
Kyocera is a Japanese manufacturer operating since 1959, whose 40-year field data from its Sakura test facility shows only about 17.2% total power degradation after 36 years of operation - notably better than typical industry degradation assumptions for that timeframe.
Design for higher operating voltage allows longer strings, reducing conduction losses and simplifying cabling in large industrial and ground-mount installations.
The KU-60 1000V series was manufactured between 2015 and 2022 and has since been discontinued. This means limited service support, spare parts, and no availability of matching modules for expanding existing arrays.
At 16.41% efficiency, this module lags well behind comparable 270 Wp peers such as DMEGC (22.9%), MY Solar, and JA Solar M2 series (21.2%) - a gap of up to 6-7 percentage points, meaning a significantly larger module area is needed to produce the same energy output.
Polycrystalline cells trail today's mono-PERC and TOPCon technologies used by the peer comparables in efficiency and degradation performance, resulting in a worse power-to-roof-area ratio.
- Module efficiency of 16.4% is 5.4pp below average for database panels (median: 21.8%)
- Power density of 164.1 W/m² is 54.0 W/m² below database median (218.1 W/m²) - needs more roof space
- -0.46%/°C temperature coefficient - 0.16pp worse than database median (-0.30%/°C), expect higher hot weather losses
- At 19.0 kg, this panel is 7.5 kg lighter than database median (26.5 kg) - easier handling during installation
- #13582 for efficiency, #13877 for temperature performance out of 14005 panels
