Efficiency leader, weak in heat
The Renesola 156M SPLIT CELL 250W-275W series is designed for stable operation in real rooftop conditions, where losses due to wiring, partial shading, and long-term reliability are key factors. The use of a split cell architecture reduces current flow in the current paths, allowing the module to better withstand microcracks and reducing the risk of hotspots caused by uneven sunlight exposure. This results in more predictable energy production throughout the day - especially in the morning and afternoon, when shadows from chimneys, trees, or dormers can significantly reduce output.
Another advantage is the multi-busbar connection design, which shortens the current path within the cell and increases resistance to mechanical degradation. The series also emphasizes robust environmental resistance, which is important in the Polish climate, where there are cycles of freezing and humidity.
This is a good choice for residential and small commercial installations, where better tolerance to shading and peace of mind and trouble-free operation are the priorities, rather than maximizing "paper" power output.

Top 22% of the TOPCon 250-300 W segment, against a median of 14.99%.
Top 22% of the TOPCon 250-300 W segment, against a median of 149.9.
Top 22% of the TOPCon 250-300 W segment, against a median of 79.5.
Bottom 7% of the TOPCon 250-300 W segment, against a median of -0.290. Ranked 10,419th in the whole database.
Splitting cells into halves reduces the operating current in each conductive path by roughly 50%, lowering hot-spot risk and improving partial-shading tolerance - useful on roofs with chimneys, dormers, or nearby trees.
A shorter current path within each cell increases resistance to microcracks and mechanical degradation from thermal cycling, contributing to more stable long-term module performance.
Renesola provides 30 years of coverage for both the product and power output - significantly longer than the typical 10-12 year product and 25-year power warranties common among peers from the same production era.
Renesola (founded 2005) has held BNEF Tier-1 status for 11 consecutive years and has shipped roughly 25 GW globally, confirming the manufacturer's financial credibility for project financing.
Snow and wind load testing per IEC standards suits Poland's freeze cycles and humidity, reducing the risk of weather-related failures over the module's lifetime.
The series is discontinued (released 2012, ended 2017), meaning limited availability of warranty service, replacement parts, and difficulty extending an existing array with identical modules.
Peak efficiency of 16.9% trails newer competitors such as the Loom Solar SHARK (20.65% at the same 275W rating) by about 3.7 percentage points, requiring more roof area for equivalent installed power.
The module is monofacial (is_bifacial: false), missing out on the additional yield from reflected ground-albedo light that newer bifacial panels can capture, limiting its competitiveness against current-generation modules.
- Efficiency of 16.9% is 0.9pp above the TOPCon 0-400W median (16.0%)
- 169.0 W/m² power density - 9.2 W/m² more than TOPCon 0-400W median (159.8 W/m²), more power per roof area
- At -0.35%/°C, loses 0.06pp more power per degree than TOPCon 0-400W median (-0.29%/°C)
- At 17.1 kg, this panel is 6.4 kg lighter than TOPCon 0-400W median (23.5 kg) - easier handling during installation
- In the top 96% for efficiency among all TOPCon panels
