Space saver, no clear weak spot
Astronergy ASTRO N5 CHSM72N(DG)/F-BH series panels are an advanced solution based on n-type TOPCon cells, redefining performance standards in large-scale installations. Thanks to the bifacial design and double glazing, these modules generate additional energy from both sides, which is crucial for optimizing return on investment on high-albedo ground. The use of SMBB technology improves current flow and minimizes the risk of micro-cracks, which directly translates into the longevity of the entire system. This series stands out with exceptional resistance to light- and temperature-induced degradation, offering stable power even after decades of operation. Through the use of innovative solutions, this product effectively eliminates efficiency barriers encountered in older generations of devices. It is an ideal choice for investors building photovoltaic farms and large-scale commercial systems, where every watt per square meter counts. Compared to standard p-type modules, ASTRO N5 provides higher efficiency in low-light conditions and a better temperature coefficient. The Dual Glass design guarantees excellent protection against corrosion and moisture, making the panels reliable in harsh environmental conditions. By choosing these modules, you gain the certainty of maximizing energy yields while reducing the LCOE costs of the entire project.
Ranking
Signals from the data
Utility-scale, commercial, hot-climate and shaded-installations.
Top 21% of the TOPCon 600-650 W segment, against a median of 227.7.
Top 23% of the TOPCon 600-650 W segment, against a median of 22.80%.
n-type TOPCon cells exhibit a power conversion efficiency (Pmax) of -0.29%/°C, while typical PERC (p-type) modules achieve -0.35%/°C. In the Polish climate, with a panel temperature of approximately 65°C, this translates to a real increase of approximately 1.5-2% in power output compared to previous-generation modules. This technology also eliminates the LID (Light-Induced Degradation) phenomenon that is present in p-type silicon.
The construction of a double-pane glazing (2.0+2.0 mm glass/glass) allows for energy generation from the rear surface of the module, with an additional gain of approximately 25% when the ground albedo is above 25% (e.g., white gravel, light concrete). Compared to single-pane modules, the same ground area generates a realistically higher kWh output without increasing the land footprint. Dual Glass also provides IP68-level protection and resistance to PID (Potential Induced Degradation).
Astronergy guarantees a degradation of no more than 1% in the first year and no more than 0.4% per year for the following 29 years, with a minimum power output of ≥87.4% after 30 years. A competitor in the same power segment - Talesun BISTAR TP7F78M - offers standard warranty terms without such precise linear specifications, which translates into a higher Net Present Value (NPV) for the project.
The upper end of the series' efficiency (23.2%) is on par with the leading performers in the comparative list - Tongwei TWMND N-type (23.2%) and Lexron TOPCon (23.23%) - and significantly exceeds Talesun BISTAR (21.5%). A higher W/m² directly reduces BOS (cabling, construction, and foundation) costs for each installed MW.
Astronergy (part of the Chint Group) has secured a place in the top six of the BloombergNEF 2023 bankability ranking, with an annual production capacity of 56 GW (as of 2025). Tier 1 status is a formal requirement for financing PV farms with external bank debt - it eliminates the risk of the project being rejected due to due diligence by the financing bank.
Given the current market standard, where JA Solar, Jinko Solar, and Canadian Solar offer 25-year product warranties for utility-scale modules, Astronergy's 15-year warranty places it below the median for the premium segment. For projects with a 25-year financing horizon, this may require additional module insurance or renegotiation of terms with the financing bank.
The dual-glass construction increases the module's weight to 32.1 kg (compared to approximately 25-27 kg for standard monofacial modules in this power range). This requires verifying the roof's load-bearing capacity and necessitates at least a 2-person installation, which increases labor costs. The impact on ground-mounted installations is marginal.
- At 23.2% efficiency, this panel is on par with typical TOPCon 600-650W modules
- 232.3 W/m² power density - 4.6 W/m² more than TOPCon 600-650W median (227.7 W/m²), more power per roof area
- Temperature coefficient of -0.29%/°C matches the TOPCon 600-650W median
- In the top 10% for efficiency among all TOPCon panels
