Light for its output, no clear weak spot
The Amerisolar AS-7M144N-HC series is a high-performance photovoltaic module based on N-type TOPCon technology with monocrystalline cells - a premium solution for installations that require maximum productivity with limited roof or ground space. The "N" in the model name indicates the use of N-type silicon, which has a lower degradation rate and better resistance to LID (Light Induced Degradation) compared to older PERC modules. The Half-Cut cell (HC) technology - 144 cut cells - results in reduced resistive losses and significantly improved partial shading resistance, which is crucial in urban and complex roof installations. A robust wind-resistant aluminum frame up to 2400 Pa and snow up to 5400 Pa makes the panels suitable for the challenging climate conditions of Poland. A system voltage of 1500V allows for the creation of longer strings, which reduces cabling costs in industrial installations and PV farms. The AS-7M144N-HC series is designed for both premium-class prosumer installations and utility-scale commercial projects, where reliability and long-term return on investment are key.
Ranking
Signals from the data
Residential, commercial, utility-scale, shaded-installations and cold-climate.
Top 13% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 53.8.
Top 19% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 22.44%.
Top 23% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 224.4.
N-type TOPCon cells exhibit an annual degradation of ≤0.4% (compared to ~0.45% for PERC), and are free from the LID effect associated with boron-oxygen pairing. The Wiley/Progress in Photovoltaics (2025) study confirms that TOPCon modules do not exhibit increased LID or LeTID sensitivity, which translates into a realistically higher energy yield throughout the entire lifespan of the installation.
At its maximum efficiency of 22.83%, the monofacial module is comparable to bifacial modules currently on the market, such as the Horay Solar HS 182-144 TC-D Ocean, which achieves 22.80% efficiency as a bifacial module, and the DAH DHN-72X16/DG(BB) – 22.84%. Therefore, the Amerisolar AS-7M144N-HC achieves premium-level performance without the need for a double-sided construction.
The manufacturer guarantees at least 87.4% of the nominal power after 30 years – a standard comparable to the top-tier TOPCon series from brands like Canadian Solar and Phono Solar. For comparison, older PERC series (e.g., JA Solar PERC) typically offer a 25-year warranty and a drop to approximately 84.8%.
The aluminum frame can withstand wind loads of 2400 Pa and snow loads of 5400 Pa, which is a significant advantage for this series in Poland, where there are often heavy snowfall. The system voltage of 1500 V allows for the creation of longer strings, reducing cabling costs in PV farm projects.
The AS-7M144N-HC series has been discontinued since its initial release in 2022. This means that replacement panels may be difficult to obtain in the event of damage to long-term installations, and that warranty claims (20-year warranty) may be challenging to process once stock is depleted by distributors.
Amerisolar is not included in the BNEF Tier 1 bankability list (Q1 2026), which is dominated by Jinko, LONGi, Trina Solar, JA Solar, and Tongwei. The lack of Tier 1 status may make it difficult or impossible to obtain non-recourse financing for utility-scale projects with a capacity of over 1.5 MW, and could also increase the project's risk premium in a bank's assessment.
The three comparable models in the 590 W segment, with an efficiency of approximately 22.8%, are either bidirectional or available in a bifacial (DAH DHN-72X16/DG(BB), Horay Solar HS 182-144 TC-D Ocean) configuration. The monofacial design of the AS-7M144N-HC eliminates the potential energy gain of 5–20% from reflected albedo, which represents a real loss in ground-mounted and white-membrane rooftop installations.
- At 22.8% efficiency, this panel is on par with typical TOPCon 550-600W modules
- At 228.3 W/m² power density, this panel generates 3.9 W/m² more per unit area than TOPCon 550-600W median (224.4 W/m²)
- Temperature coefficient of -0.30%/°C matches the TOPCon 550-600W median
- Weight of 27.5 kg (3.7 kg below TOPCon 550-600W median of 31.2 kg) allows easier transport and roof mounting
- In the top 19% for efficiency among all TOPCon panels
