The Fronius Verto Plus series are three-phase hybrid inverters (grid-tie with energy storage support) designed for complex installations - with multiple strings, different roof orientations, and periodic shading. The key advantage is three independent MPPTs, enabling separate power-point tracking for different groups of modules, which genuinely improves yield when the roof is not uniform or parts of the panels operate under different sunlight conditions.

High European efficiency means the inverter is optimised for typical operating conditions in our climatic zone, thus minimising losses in daily, variable loads. Furthermore, extensive monitoring is available - a built-in web server and WiFi and Ethernet communication, making production monitoring and diagnostics convenient for both the user and the installer.

Verto Plus is compatible with energy storage systems and supports DC safety solutions, facilitating the design of small-scale and commercial installations. Compliance is proven by certifications such as CE, and the manufacturer's guarantee ensures predictable operation.

Pros and cons

5 positive · 3 caution
What owners get
3 independent MPPT controllers (150-870 V)

Three separate MPP trackers in the 150-870 V DC range allow for independent string configurations with different orientations or different module technologies, without losses between groups. This is an advantage over two-MPPT competitors in the same class (e.g., Sungrow SH25/30T), where complex roofs require optimizers or additional wiring.

Enhanced Power Harvest - up to 150% DC/AC

The Enhanced Power Harvest function allows for temporary over-generation of AC power up to 150% of the nominal output (e.g., in a 30 kW variant: up to 45 kW DC) - any excess power is immediately directed to the energy storage system. This mechanism effectively increases the annual energy yield during peak hours when PV production exceeds momentary consumption and the nominal AC output of the inverter.

50 kVA peak power in backup mode

In backup mode (with a battery), the Verto Plus provides up to 50 kVA of AC power, which is sufficient to handle the peak currents of large inductive loads (e.g., heat pumps, air conditioners, compressors). The Fronius GEN24 Plus, in the same range, offers only approximately 30 kVA of peak - Verto Plus is better suited for more demanding industrial installations.

Dynamic Peak Manager - active management of shadows

The integrated Dynamic Peak Manager dynamically detects local minima in the U-I characteristic of each MPPT and optimizes the operating point without requiring external optimizers. This reduces partial shading losses without increasing the BOS installation costs - which is particularly important for roofs with complex geometries.

IP66 + WiFi + Ethernet + built-in web server

The IP66 protection rating allows for outdoor installation without the need for an additional enclosure. The integrated web server with access via WiFi and Ethernet simplifies both setup and remote diagnostics for installers and end-users - without the need to purchase separate communication gateways (unlike, for example, SMA Sunny Tripower in versions without Smart Energy).

Trade-offs
Premium price: ~537 PLN/kW

The 30.0 kW variant costs approximately 16,130 PLN gross (approximately 537 PLN/kW), while a comparable Sungrow SH30T hybrid system has a price range of 8,000-10,000 PLN (approximately 267-333 PLN/kW). A price difference of approximately 60-100% per kW may be difficult to justify in standard prosumer installations without a sophisticated consumption profile.

Limited compatibility with warehouses

The official list of compatible systems includes only Fronius Reserva, BYD HVM, and BYD HVS (up to 3 x 12.8 kWh = 38.4 kWh total). This excludes popular battery storage systems available on the Polish market, such as Pylontech, Huawei LUNA, EFT, and FoxESS - which limits design flexibility and price negotiation during battery selection.

Minimum power: 15 kW - no options available below this level.

The series starts at 15.0 kW, which excludes typical 5-10 kW prosumer installations. For smaller installations, Fronius recommends the GEN24 Plus series (3.0-10.0 kW), meaning that the Verto Plus is specifically designed for commercial installations or larger business-oriented prosumer setups.

About the Fronius Verto Plus series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this model's own.

Why does the Fronius Verto Plus have three independent MPPTs, and when is this important?
Three independent MPPTs allow the inverter to independently track the maximum power point for different groups of panels. In practice, this means that if you have panels on a south-facing and east-facing section, or if part of your roof is shaded by a chimney or skylight, each group will operate with its own optimal power curve. This results in significantly lower losses due to uneven sunlight compared to a single, shared MPPT.
Which energy storage system does the Fronius Verto Plus work with?
The Fronius Verto Plus is designed to work with the Fronius Reserva Pro system. It is a high-voltage energy storage system with a capacity of 12 to 32 kWh in a single tower, and up to 128 kWh when connected in parallel. This allows for a simplified configuration and monitoring within the system itself. Connecting the Verto Plus with the Reserva Pro also enables a backup power function with a peak power of up to 50 kVA AC, as well as a black start capability in the event of a grid failure.
What warranty applies to the Fronius Verto Plus inverter?
The standard warranty is 5 years in the 2+3 model: the first 2 years are automatically covered, and the remaining 3 years are covered free of charge upon registering the device on the Fronius Solar.web platform. Fronius also offers an extended warranty package, Fronius Plus, which can be purchased and includes the costs of materials, service labor, and transportation. It is advisable to register the inverter as soon as it is installed to maintain the additional years of warranty coverage.
What does the monitoring system for a Fronius Verto Plus inverter look like, and are there any additional components that need to be purchased?
The inverter has a built-in web server and both WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, and access to the Fronius Solar.web platform is free for all users. The app and web browser versions display production, consumption, and inventory status in real-time, and installers can remotely diagnose the installation. Fronius also offers a paid Premium Solar.web package with advanced analytics and predictive alerts, but the free version is fully sufficient for everyday use.
Does the Fronius Verto Plus provide backup power in the event of a grid failure?
Yes, but only when the inverter is connected to a storage system, such as the Fronius Reserva Pro. The backup power function is activated programmatically and allows you to power selected circuits in your home or office during a power outage. In backup mode, the inverter can provide up to 50 kVA of AC power, which is sufficient to power most household or office appliances. The "black start" function allows you to restart the system without access to the grid.
For which types of installations is the Fronius Verto Plus inverter suitable: single-family homes or commercial buildings?
The Verto Plus series is available in power outputs ranging from 15 to 33 kW, placing it outside the typical residential range. It is best suited for prosumer installations in large homes, farms, small and medium-sized businesses, and public buildings where the roof has multiple sections with different orientations or where some panels are partially shaded. The manufacturer highlights the product's certifications (CE) and Austrian production, which are important for bidding processes.
