The Mono S4 Halfcut Trend Full Black series is Solar-Fabrik's response to the growing demand for solar panels that combine high performance with impeccable aesthetics. The uniform black appearance - black frame, black laminate, and black grid lines - allows the installation to seamlessly blend into dark roofs, without disrupting the building's architecture. The heart of the module is the N-Type TopCon half-cut cells, which, compared to standard P-Type cells, generate higher voltage and exhibit better LID (light-induced degradation) resistance. The half-cut cell design reduces internal losses and increases resistance to shading - particularly important in urban and complex roof installations. The glass-glass construction with tempered, anti-reflective glass on both sides provides exceptional durability, Class 4 hail resistance, resistance to chemicals (ammonia, solar aerosols), and Class A fire resistance. The entire system is covered by a 30-year product warranty issued by a German manufacturer - a unique standard of assurance in the solar panel market. This solution is designed for demanding installations on single-family homes and commercial buildings, where aesthetics and long-term reliability are equally important.

Common questions

6 answered
Why is the Mono S4 Halfcut Trend Full Black series recommended for dark roofs?
The series features a uniform all-black aesthetic — black frame, black backsheet laminate, and black cell busbars create a seamless look that blends perfectly with dark roof surfaces. Unlike standard panels with silver frames, the installation does not disrupt the building's architecture. This is especially important on roofs visible from the street or subject to aesthetic requirements from homeowners' associations or historic preservation authorities.
How do N-Type TOPCon cells differ from older P-Type cells in the Solar-Fabrik Mono S4 Halfcut Trend Full Black?
N-Type TOPCon cells produce higher voltage and have a lower temperature coefficient (approx. -0.29 %/°C), which translates to better output during hot weather. Critically, they are virtually immune to LID (Light Induced Degradation) that affects P-Type cells during their first months of operation. As a result, the panel maintains its rated power close to 480 Wp throughout the entire 30-year performance warranty period.
Is the Solar-Fabrik Mono S4 Halfcut Trend Full Black a bifacial panel, and what does that mean in practice?
Yes, the series is bifacial — it features active cells on both sides of the module. The glass-glass construction allows reflected light to pass through the rear glass, potentially increasing energy yield by up to 10–15% compared to a monofacial panel. The gain is greatest with a bright substrate beneath the module, such as a white roofing membrane, light-colored ventilated facade, or a ground-mounted system over a reflective surface.
What warranty covers Solar-Fabrik Mono S4 Halfcut Trend Full Black panels?
Solar-Fabrik provides a 30-year product warranty covering manufacturing defects and material failures, as well as a 30-year power output warranty on this series. Both warranties are issued directly by the manufacturer headquartered in Germany. A 30-year product warranty is a rare standard in the PV panel market and provides significant protection for the investment throughout the entire expected service life of the system.
Can the Solar-Fabrik Mono S4 Halfcut Trend Full Black panel withstand hail and harsh weather conditions?
Yes. The module features glass-glass construction with anti-reflective tempered glass on both sides and meets hail resistance class 4 — it withstands ice ball impacts up to 40 mm in diameter. Fire resistance class A certification and resistance to ammonia and salt spray aerosols make the panel suitable for rural installations near farms as well as coastal environments.
How does half-cut cell technology affect the Mono S4 Halfcut Trend Full Black panel's performance under partial shading?
Splitting cells into half-cut halves means each half of the panel operates semi-independently. Even when shade falls on part of the module from a chimney, dormer, or adjacent building, the power loss is significantly smaller than with conventional full-size cells. The series is therefore especially recommended for urban installations and roofs with complex geometry where uniform irradiance across the entire surface is not achievable.
