Warranty pick, heavy for its output
The JA Solar JAM60D20 360-385/MB/1500V series is designed with long-term, stable operation in mind, even under challenging environmental conditions. These bifacial modules, featuring a double glass construction, demonstrate superior resilience to humidity, temperature fluctuations, and demanding site conditions compared to typical panels with a rear foil. The application of PERC technology combined with a half-cell configuration and multi busbar interconnections translates to higher resistance to partial shading losses and reduced risk of localized hotspots, effectively improving the predictability of energy yields during daily operation.
This model is an excellent choice when reliable performance on long strings and compatibility with modern system architectures are crucial. The modules are designed for 1500 V systems, simplifying the design of larger installations. They are suitable for both commercial rooftops and industrial halls, as well as ground-mounted PV farms and ground-based projects, where the additional yield from the rear side of the module can be significant.

The module generates power from both the front and rear sides, while double-glass encapsulation eliminates backsheet degradation risks (PID, moisture ingress, UV stress). Compared to standard backsheet modules, double-glass construction extends real-world service life — critical under a 30-year linear power warranty.
The 120 half-cut cell layout with multi-busbar interconnection lowers operating current per cell, reducing hot spot risk. Cell halving limits the impact of partial shading on the string, improving yield predictability under real-world irradiance conditions.
A 1500 V maximum system voltage enables longer string configurations and reduces BoS costs (cabling, protection devices, inverters). This is a key advantage for commercial rooftops, industrial halls, and ground-mount PV farms where lower system costs directly improve LCOE.
JA Solar guarantees ≥80% of rated power output after 30 years, backed by a 12-year product warranty. BNEF Tier 1 bankability status (Q2 2026) provides additional assurance of warranty enforceability across the full project lifetime.
JA Solar maintains BNEF Tier 1 bankability status with annual production capacity exceeding 100 GWp. This enables project finance access and supply-chain stability for utility-scale and commercial developers globally.
The JAM60D20 was manufactured between 2020 and 2022 and has been officially discontinued. Limited secondary-market availability makes system expansion or single-module replacement difficult. The risk of power-output mismatch during future module substitutions increases over time, even with formal warranty support maintained by JA Solar.
The Pmax temperature coefficient is -0.354%/°C, typical for PERC technology. Newer N-type TOPCon modules — including later JA Solar generations — achieve -0.29 to -0.30%/°C. In hot climates or poorly ventilated roof installations this gap translates to measurably higher power losses during summer peak irradiance hours.
The series tops out at 20.6% efficiency, compared to 20.9% for the KB Solar KBS-MONO-BF and 20.7% for the Solarwatt Panel vision GM 3.0 pure. On a fixed roof area this gap translates to approximately 1–1.5% lower annual yield, relevant for space-constrained installations.
- Efficiency of 19.3% matches the PERC 0-400W median
- At 192.9 W/m² power density, roof space requirements are typical for PERC 0-400W panels
- At -0.35%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for PERC 0-400W panels
- At 23.0 kg (2.5 kg above PERC 0-400W median of 20.5 kg), requires checking roof load capacity
- Bifaciality factor of 70% can add 4-10% extra yield with reflective mounting surface
