The XS60+ series is a line of photovoltaic modules built around 60 multicrystalline solar cells, engineered for stable operation under typical European climate conditions. It stands out for its positive power tolerance of 0~3%, meaning real-world installation output does not fall below the catalog rating, reducing the risk of underestimating energy yield during system design. The modules have undergone verified PID resistance testing, which matters for large rooftop and ground-mount installations where potential-induced degradation can significantly reduce output during the first years of operation. The frame construction has been tested up to a 5400 Pa load rating, making it a resilient choice against heavy snow loads and strong wind, while the sealed IP67/IP68 junction box with three bypass diodes protects the installation from moisture and the effects of partial shading. The XS60+ series works well both for residential installations and smaller commercial projects where predictable return on investment matters. The manufacturer backs it with a 25-year progressive power warranty and 12 years of product warranty on materials and workmanship, giving investors long-term peace of mind and a solid basis for calculating installation LCOE.

What owners get
Positive power tolerance 0~3%

XS60+ modules never fall below their rated nameplate power, reducing the risk of overestimated energy yield during system design and simplifying ROI calculations.

Verified PID resistance

The series has passed potential-induced degradation (PID) resistance testing, which matters most in large rooftop and ground-mount arrays where PID is a leading cause of early-life yield loss.

Structural load rating up to 5400 Pa

Confirmed mechanical load resistance up to 5400 Pa (roughly 2x the standard IEC snow-load requirement of ~2400 Pa) makes the modules well-suited for locations with heavy snowfall and high wind loads.

25-year linear power warranty

The manufacturer backs the series with a 25-year power warranty and a 12-year product warranty on materials and workmanship - terms comparable to the competing Jinko Solar 60+ Series in the same multi/mono-crystalline 60-cell segment.

Financially stable manufacturer

Motech Industries has operated since 1981 and reported net profit growth of 7.9% in 2024 (to NT$235 million), which strengthens confidence in long-term warranty support despite the XS60+ series itself being discontinued.

Trade-offs
Series discontinued

The XS60+ series has been phased out of current production, meaning limited availability of identical replacement modules for repairs or system expansion, and potentially longer lead times for warranty claims.

Efficiency below segment leaders

The 19.36% peak efficiency matches the Jinko 60+ Series but trails Solar-Fabrik's Mono S5 Halfcut (21.69%) and is notably lower toward the bottom of the range (16.6%), which is well below today's tier-1 standard for 60-cell modules.

Multi-crystalline - older cell generation

Multi-Si cell technology lags behind the mono PERC, half-cut, and TOPCon cells now dominant in the market in terms of temperature coefficient and LID degradation, translating to lower annual yield per roof area than newer peer comparables.

No bifacial variant

The series is offered only in a monofacial configuration (is_bifacial: false), missing the additional rear-side yield gains increasingly available in newer tier-1 modules of this power class.

Notes from the database

  • At -0.42%/°C, loses 0.12pp more power per degree than database median (-0.30%/°C)
  • 18.5 kg weight - 8.0 kg lighter than database median (26.5 kg), reducing installation effort
  • In the top 97% for efficiency among all N-type panels

About the XS60+ series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this module's own.

Is the Motech XS60+ series still available for purchase?
The XS60+ series has been discontinued from Motech's current production lineup and is no longer offered as an active model. Panels may still be available through distributors with remaining stock, so it's worth confirming availability with a local supplier before planning a larger installation. Warranties issued for previously purchased modules remain fully valid regardless of the discontinuation.
What is the actual power output of the Motech XS60+ panel, and can you rely on the rated value?
The XS60+ panel reaches a maximum power output of up to 315 Wp. Thanks to a positive power tolerance of 0~3%, the actual delivered power is never lower than the rated datasheet value, and is often slightly higher. This makes system design more precise, without needing to build in a safety margin for underperformance.
Is the XS60+ suitable for large rooftop installations prone to PID?
Yes, the XS60+ modules have been verified for PID (potential-induced degradation) resistance. This matters especially in larger systems with higher string voltages, where PID can reduce yield by double-digit percentages within the first few years. This protection helps the installation maintain stable energy output over its full service life.
How much snow and wind load can the Motech XS60+ panel withstand?
The module's construction has been tested for loads up to 5400 Pa, giving it strong resistance to heavy snowfall and high wind pressure. This is particularly relevant for mountainous regions or roofs with unfavorable snow-shedding angles. The junction box also carries an IP67/IP68 rating, protecting the installation from moisture regardless of weather conditions.
What warranty applies to Motech XS60+ panels?
The manufacturer provides a 25-year progressive power output warranty along with a 12-year warranty on materials and workmanship. The progressive structure means the maximum allowable power degradation decreases gradually over time, giving investors a predictable basis for calculating return on investment and LCOE over such a long service period.
Is the XS60+ panel bifacial, and would that boost its output?
No, the XS60+ series is a monofacial module and does not use bifacial technology. It generates power solely from its front side, built on 60 multicrystalline cells. This works well for typical rooftop installations, where the rear side would have little access to reflected light anyway, so the lack of bifaciality has minimal impact on real-world energy yield.
