Middle of its segment, weak in heat
The Heckert Solar APOLLON 1.0 108 M series is designed for high energy yield from a limited roof area, without compromising aesthetics and durability. The use of 108 half-cut monocrystalline solar cells helps minimize losses under partial shading and improves stability in real-world conditions, such as those caused by chimneys, skylights, or multi-roof installations. The modules utilize TOPCon technology, which is valued for its good performance at higher temperatures and its efficient energy collection in the morning and during cloudy conditions, resulting in more predictable energy production in the Polish climate.
The version with a black frame makes it easy to integrate into modern roofs and projects where a consistent appearance is important. Thanks to its refined design and light-reflecting glass coating, the APOLLON 1.0 108 M is suitable for both single-family homes and commercial buildings, where reliability and stable operating parameters over many years are crucial. Heckert Solar is the last active PV module manufacturer with continuous production on German soil (facilities in Chemnitz and Langenwetzendorf, operating since 1992). This translates into short supply chains, full manufacturing process auditability, and compliance with the European country-of-origin requirements of public tenders and subsidy programs.
N-type TOPCon technology delivers a temperature coefficient of -0.25%/°C – a clear improvement over the typical -0.35%/°C of previous-generation PERC modules. At realistic summer module temperatures (60–70°C), this translates to approximately 3–5% higher energy yield compared to PERC-based systems.
The half-cut M10 cell format reduces internal currents and resistive losses while improving resilience to partial shading (e.g., from chimneys or dormers). The anti-reflective (AR) coating on the glass increases light absorption at the low angles of incidence characteristic of Polish latitudes (50–54°N), which is particularly relevant outside the summer season.
The module ships factory-fitted with Stäubli MC4-EVO 2A connectors, compatible with power optimizers (SolarEdge, Tigo). This eliminates the need for wiring adapters in complex roof installations and improves connection reliability over the system's service life.
Support for system voltages up to 1500 V DC enables longer strings and therefore fewer inverters in commercial installations, reducing balance-of-system (BoS) costs and simplifying DC-side wiring.
The maximum efficiency of the series is 22.3%, while direct competitors in the same segment achieve: Luxor Solar ECO LINE N-TYPE TOPCon – 22.86%, Seraphim Nebula – 22.53%, KDM Kingdom Solar – 22.5%. For the same roof area, a gap of 0.5–0.6 percentage points translates to approximately 2–3% lower annual energy yield with no corresponding price benefit for the installer.
Heckert Solar does not appear on the BloombergNEF Tier-1 list (which assesses bankability, not technical quality). This may complicate securing third-party bank financing for commercial projects above 50 kW and could affect insurance policy terms with carriers that require Tier-1 status as a qualification criterion.
The declared power output after 25 years is 80% of Pnom – a standard value, but lower than the warranties offered by leading Tier-1 manufacturers: Jinko Tiger Neo and Trina Vertex N guarantee 84.8–87.4% after 25 years. A gap of 4–7 percentage points over a long operational horizon may represent real energy production losses estimated at 3–6 MWh per 10 kWp of installed capacity.
