Warranty pick, heavy for its output
The Hanersun Hitouch 5 (HN18-54HT) series is designed to maximize energy yield from the same roof area, without increasing operational risks. The use of N-type cells in the TOPCon technology results in excellent performance in low-light conditions and minimal susceptibility to LID and LeTID degradation, which, in practice, makes it easier to maintain high energy production for years. The half-cut design with multiple current rails (MBB) reduces losses and improves resistance to microcracks, while the dense cell packing supports stable performance in everyday conditions.
The bidirectional version allows for the sensible use of reflected light, making the panels suitable not only for residential rooftops but also for carports, pergolas, and commercial installations, where additional yield is important. If you are looking for a module that genuinely combines high efficiency in outdoor conditions with predictability and durability, the Hitouch 5 (HN18-54HT) stands out from many standard PERC panels.

Residential, commercial and shaded-installations.
Weight-limited structures.
Top 17% of the PERC 400-450 W segment, against a median of 25 yrs.
Bottom 8% of the PERC 400-450 W segment, against a median of 53.0. Ranked 12,619th in the whole database.
The bifacial design captures albedo radiation reflected from the ground surface. According to manufacturer data, this translates to 5–25% additional energy output compared to monofacial modules, making the series cost-effective for carports, pergolas, and installations over high-albedo sub-surfaces.
Half-cut cells combined with multi-busbar (MBB) technology reduce resistive losses and minimize the risk of hot-spot formation. The manufacturer confirms improved partial-shading tolerance and a lower probability of mechanical damage during transport and installation.
The manufacturer guarantees an average annual power degradation of no more than 0.4% in years 2–30, which outperforms the standard 25-year warranties offered by some peer comparables (e.g., VDS Renewable). The extended warranty horizon supports financial models for both residential prosumer and commercial installations.
An efficiency range of 20.23–20.99% was a competitive result for 182 mm PERC modules at the time of launch (2021). By comparison, peer comparable VDS-S144/FNH reaches a maximum of 20.4%, meaning the top-tier HN18-54HT variant leads that series by approximately 0.6 percentage points.
The series was discontinued in 2023. Availability of new modules is severely restricted, and warranty service as well as potential like-for-like replacements may prove difficult over the declared 30-year power warranty horizon.
The industry standard is a 25-year product warranty (e.g., Luxor Solar in the same power class offers 25 years). The manufacturer's materials-and-workmanship warranty reduced to 15 years represents a real risk of module replacement costs arising between years 15 and 25 of system operation.
The HN18-54HT series is based on P-type PERC cells, not N-type TOPCon as incorrectly implied by some marketing materials — the TOPCon variant is the separate HN18N-54HT series. PERC cells exhibit higher light-induced degradation (LID) and inferior high-temperature performance compared to N-type, and the maximum efficiency of 20.99% is lower than TOPCon-based peer comparables: Sunket at 21% and Luxor at 21.33%.
According to manufacturer data, the Hitouch 5 series (395–410 Wp, PERC) operated outside the BNEF Tier 1 bankable list — Hanersun achieved Tier 1 BNEF status only in Q2 2023, and exclusively for 600 W+ modules. For project finance and installation insurance, this may result in heightened due diligence requirements or outright financing rejection.
- Efficiency of 20.5% matches the PERC 400-450W median
- At 204.8 W/m² power density, roof space requirements are typical for PERC 400-450W panels
- At -0.35%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for PERC 400-450W panels
- Weight of 24.5 kg is 2.5 kg above PERC 400-450W median (22.0 kg) - verify structural support
- Bifacial design (78% factor) captures reflected light - adds 4-12% yield on ground-mount or white roof
