Light for its output, weak in heat
GCL GCL-M12/60H modules are monocrystalline half-cut modules designed to maximize energy yield from large surfaces while reducing system costs during the design and installation phases. The use of large wafer format (G12/210) minimizes the number of modules in an installation, effectively reducing the amount of supporting structure, cabling, and rooftop or ground-level work. In practice, this means faster installation and easier logistics on-site. The design with a zero-loss string helps minimize the risk of micro-cracking, thereby preventing power degradation during operation. Furthermore, high-density cell packaging supports better active surface utilization, which is critical where every square meter counts. The series also features PID resistance thanks to carefully selected encapsulation materials and process control. This is a solid solution for PV farms, large commercial installations, and projects where stable performance, predictable yield, and low energy cost-of-ownership over the lifespan are top priorities.

The large 210mm wafer reduces the total module count per installation, directly cutting the amount of racking, cabling, and labor required. For a 1 MWp PV plant, the difference can amount to several dozen fewer modules compared to M10/182mm formats, meaningfully shortening installation time and on-site logistics.
Splitting cells in half reduces operating current by half, lowering resistive losses (I²R) and improving tolerance to partial shading. Laser cutting without material loss reduces mechanical stress, decreasing the risk of microcracks over the system's lifetime.
GCL-SI appears on the Bloomberg NEF Tier 1 list (requiring at least six projects ≥10 MW financed by independent commercial banks within 24 months), as confirmed by BNEF 2025 data. For externally financed projects, manufacturer bankability is a prerequisite for securing debt financing.
Within the monocrystalline PERC G12 half-cut module segment, the series reaches up to 615 Wp at an efficiency of up to 21.7%, a result comparable to direct competitor Risen TITAN (max 615 Wp, 21.7%), placing the product in the upper tier of the PERC segment.
The manufacturer declares resistance to potential-induced degradation (PID) through optimized encapsulation materials. The power warranty spans 25 years with a minimum threshold of 84.8% of nominal power at end of term, in line with the market standard for the utility segment.
Two of the three comparable market rivals use N-type technology: JA Solar JAM72D40 LB achieves 23.2% efficiency and LONGi Hi-MO X6 Explorer reaches 22.8% - versus a maximum of 21.7% for the GCL-M12/60H. The 1.5-1.6 percentage point gap translates into measurable annual yield losses (estimated at 1.5-2.5% MWh/MWp based on PERC/TOPCon comparisons) and a higher first-year degradation rate (~2% for PERC vs. ~1% for TOPCon).
The product warranty stands at 12 years. An increasing number of Tier 1 manufacturers - including LONGi and JA Solar in selected series - are shifting the benchmark toward a 15-year product warranty. For projects with long financing horizons (e.g., DSCR structures of 20+ years), this may be flagged as a risk factor during due diligence.
- Module efficiency of 21.6% is 1.2pp below average for TOPCon 600-650W panels (median: 22.8%)
- Power density of 215.5 W/m² is 12.2 W/m² below TOPCon 600-650W median (227.7 W/m²) - needs more roof space
- At -0.35%/°C, loses 0.06pp more power per degree than TOPCon 600-650W median (-0.29%/°C)
- 31.0 kg weight - 1.8 kg lighter than TOPCon 600-650W median (32.8 kg), reducing installation effort
