Warranty pick, no clear weak spot
The AE Solar AURORA MD-108BD (bifacial double-glass) series is designed to significantly improve energy yield in environments where performance under variable conditions is critical. The double-glass construction enhances resistance to environmental factors and stabilizes the module's parameters over the long term, while also minimizing the risk of micro-cracks during operation. Thanks to bifacial technology, the panel can also utilize reflected light from the ground - a feature particularly beneficial for installations on flat roofs, light membranes, carports, and PV farms. The use of half-cut PERC monocrystalline cells improves performance under partial shading and reduces resistive losses, helping to maintain production during morning hours and cloudy conditions. Another key feature is the use of POE film, which supports the durability of the laminate structure. This is a series for investors who expect predictable performance, high resilience, and a better energy balance without compromising the design.

AE Solar offers both a 30-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty, guaranteeing a minimum of 82.2% of the rated power after 30 years of operation. The industry standard offered by most manufacturers is typically a 12-15 year product warranty and a 25-year power warranty (e.g., Aptos Solar DNA-108 - 25 years), making this series stand out in the market.
The maximum efficiency of the module is 21.28%, while the three directly comparable series - Aptos Solar DNA-108, LEDVANCE M395~415P54LM-BF-F3, and Sunova TS-BG54 - achieve 21.25%. The difference is minimal, but it confirms that the series is among the best in the 108-cell module PERC segment.
The AURORA series has been recognized as a Top Performer in the 11th edition of the Kiwa PVEL PV Module Reliability Scorecard (2025), which provides independent verification of the module's reliability in thermal cycling, humidity, and PID/LID+LETID degradation tests. This award is given to only 50 manufacturers from the global market.
Using POE film instead of standard EVA, combined with a 1.8 mm tempered glass, minimizes UV degradation, thermal cycle losses, and moisture absorption. According to the manufacturer's data, this translates to a lower risk of delamination and micro-cracks compared to glass-film modules, particularly in tropical and desert climates.
AE Solar has been included in the Tier 1 list of BloombergNEF for the 16th time (as of Q1 2025), which is a prerequisite for banks to finance PV projects under non-recourse financing models. This means that for project developers and investors, it is easier to access project finance without the need for additional due diligence from the supplier.
By 2025-2026, TOPCon is expected to replace PERC as the industry standard. TOPCon solar cells achieve a bifaciality rate of approximately 85%, compared to 70±5% in the AURORA MD-108BD series, along with a better temperature coefficient (~-0.30%/°C vs. -0.35%/°C), which, under typical installation conditions in Poland (module temperature exceeding 40°C in summer), could result in a 2-4% lower annual energy yield compared to an equivalent TOPCon module.
The dual-glass construction results in a module weighing 22.5 kg, which is approximately 2.5-3.5 kg more than comparable glass-film modules in this power range. For older, sloped roofs or industrial halls with limited load-bearing capacity, a structural assessment is required before installation, which adds an additional cost for the investor.
- 20.3% module efficiency - 0.8pp better than the PERC 0-400W median of 19.4%
- 202.6 W/m² power density - 8.4 W/m² more than PERC 0-400W median (194.2 W/m²), more power per roof area
- Temperature coefficient of -0.35%/°C matches the PERC 0-400W median
- At 23.5 kg, this panel is 3.0 kg heavier than the PERC 0-400W median (20.5 kg) - more demanding for installation crews
- Bifaciality factor of 70% can add 4-10% extra yield with reflective mounting surface
