Efficiency leader, heavy for its output
The AE Solar CMD-144BDS-I (Alpine) series is a range of modules designed for high energy production even when conditions on the roof or ground are not ideal. The use of N-type TOPCon cell technology helps to minimize losses and maintain stable operation in the typical Polish weather conditions, even with less sunlight. A key advantage is the bifacial design - the panel works from both sides, so it can utilize reflected light from a bright roof, gravel, or snow, increasing energy yield without increasing the size of the installation.
The Alpine variant stands out with its double-glass construction, which better withstands mechanical loads and material aging than traditional modules with a back sheet, which is important for installations exposed to wind, hail, and large temperature fluctuations. Thanks to half-cut cells, the module better handles partial shading and reduces the risk of localized overheating.
This is a good choice for businesses and consumers focused on maximizing energy yield: PV farms, roof-mounted systems, carports, and installations where durability and a longer lifespan are important.
Ranking
Signals from the data
Commercial, utility-scale and shaded-installations.
Weight-limited structures.
Top 3% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 22.44%. Ranked 1,750th in the whole database.
Top 3% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 224.4. Ranked 1,743rd in the whole database.
Bottom 2% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 53.8. Ranked 13,115th in the whole database.
The maximum efficiency of 23.05% exceeds the Sunova TS-BW78 (21.3%) by 1.75%, and is slightly higher than the Solarspace Lumina II and the Ulica Solar TOPCon (both 23.03%), resulting in a significantly higher energy production for the same roof area.
The Pmax coefficient is -0.29%/°C - better than typical PERC (-0.34-0.35%/°C), and the degradation rate after the first year is a maximum of 0.4%/year (year 1: max 1%). This guarantees at least 87.4% of the nominal power after 30 years of operation, according to the official Alpine Ver25.1.1 datasheet.
The 30/30-year double warranty (on both the product and the power output) exceeds the standard offered by most Tier 1 manufacturers (e.g., Trina, JA Solar), which typically provide 12-15 years of product warranty and 25 years of power output warranty. A longer warranty period is crucial for financing photovoltaic (PV) projects.
The Alpine series can withstand hail with a diameter of 40 mm at a speed of 27.54 m/s - significantly exceeding the IEC standard requirement (25 mm / 23 m/s). The glass-glass (two 2.0 mm AR tempered glass) construction eliminates the risk of rear foil delamination and limits the aging of the encapsulant, which is particularly important in installations exposed to large temperature fluctuations in Poland.
AE Solar is the only European manufacturer with a high bankability rating from BNEF (50% in 2024, up from 26% in 2023), and has been awarded the Kiwa PVEL Top Performer 2025 award. This translates to easier project financing and reduced risk for institutional investors.
The construction with two 2.0 mm tempered glass panes (dimensions 2278×1133×30 mm) results in a typical weight that is 20-30% higher than equivalent glass-backsheet constructions in the same power class. This may require reinforcement of mounting systems and generates higher installation costs, especially in older roof constructions with limited load-bearing capacity.
- 23.1% module efficiency - 0.6pp better than the TOPCon 550-600W median of 22.4%
- Power density of 230.5 W/m² packs 6.1 W/m² more into the same footprint vs TOPCon 550-600W median (224.4 W/m²)
- Temperature coefficient of -0.29%/°C matches the TOPCon 550-600W median
- At 38.5 kg (7.3 kg above TOPCon 550-600W median of 31.2 kg), requires checking roof load capacity
- Bifacial design (80% factor) captures reflected light - adds 4-12% yield on ground-mount or white roof
