The GoodWe MIS series are grid-tie inverters designed for installations where module-level performance matters and easy expansion is key - from balcony and residential rooftop systems to smaller commercial projects. Their key advantage is multi-channel MPPT, enabling independent optimization for each connected module - a real benefit in shaded conditions, varying roof tilts, and mixed panel orientations. High European efficiency translates to stable energy yield in typical working conditions in Poland, not just in the lab.

Plus, they feature module-level monitoring - with visibility into each panel’s operation and faster diagnostics. Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth simplify configuration, and device communication can operate in mesh mode without an additional gateway. Add to this an IP67 enclosure, built-in AC-side protections, and support for the SEEMS platform for remote monitoring and service. This is the solution for investors seeking maximum production and complete control over their installation.

Pros and cons

5 positive · 2 caution
What owners get
4 independent MPPT channels per unit

Each of the 4 connected modules is monitored independently using an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) system (voltage range 13-60 V, up to 18 A), which eliminates the effect of the weakest module in the string. In the case of partial or mixed-orientation panels, the actual energy losses are minimal compared to traditional string inverters.

Maximum safe DC voltage: 60 V

The microwave oven architecture limits the DC voltage to 60 V directly at the module, eliminating the risk of high-voltage shock (typical strings operate at 600-1000 V DC). This is particularly important for balcony installations and facilities with infrequent maintenance access.

WiFi Mesh network without an external gateway

The built-in mesh network supports up to 25 devices without a dedicated communication hub (data logger). This reduces installation costs and complexity compared to competing ecosystems that require a separate gateway (e.g., Enphase IQ Gateway).

IP67 rating + standard 12-year warranty

The IP67 enclosure (full protection against dust and immersion up to 1 meter) and the standard 12-year warranty (with an option to extend to 25 years) place this series above the minimum market standard for inverters, where many entry-level models offer only 10 years. GoodWe announced the continuation of its warranty extension program in 2026.

Modular monitoring module in the SEMS+ platform

Integration with the SEMS+ platform allows for real-time tracking of the performance of each panel individually, as well as remote diagnostics. This speeds up the identification of faults without the need for an on-site service visit.

Trade-offs
MPPT efficiency of 96.4% vs. the segment leader

The nominal efficiency of the MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) at 96.4% (according to the official GoodWe MIS datasheet) is slightly lower than that of the Enphase IQ8, which reaches up to 97.0%. The difference of approximately 0.6% points in an 10 kWp installation with an annual yield of 1000 kWh/kWp translates to approximately 60 kWh less per year - a marginal, but measurable, cost.

Maximum power per unit: 2 kW - scalable for different objects

For commercial installations exceeding 20 kWp, the MIS series requires 10+ microinverter units. A larger number of hardware components increases the complexity of maintenance and the cost of potential replacement compared to string or hybrid solutions of the same power class.

About the GoodWe MIS series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this model's own.

What is the warranty period for GoodWe MIS inverters?
GoodWe offers a standard 10-year warranty on the MIS series, provided that the device is registered on the SEMS platform (applies to inverters manufactured after October 1, 2020). Without registration, a 5-year warranty applies. GoodWe is a Tier 1 manufacturer, which means a stable service and parts availability throughout the warranty period.
Is the GoodWe MIS suitable for a balcony installation (also known as a "balcony power plant")?
Yes, the MIS series is designed for both balcony and rooftop installations. The 2-in-1 version with a power output of 800 W supports two panels with independent MPPT inputs, which is a typical configuration for a balcony solar power system. The low starting voltage (15 V DC) and maximum input voltage of 60 V enhance the safety of installations in locations where unauthorized personnel may be working with high DC voltage.
How does the multi-string MPPT system in the GoodWe MIS help with partial shading of the roof?
In a traditional string inverter, shading of a single module reduces the overall string's output. However, in the MIS series, each panel has its own maximum power point tracker (MPPT), so a shaded module does not affect the output of the other panels. This is particularly important in installations with features such as chimneys, skylights, antennas, or with varying roof orientations - typical conditions in Polish prosumer installations.
Do GoodWe MIS inverters, do separate gateways (communication and monitoring) required?
No. The MIS series supports a mesh WiFi network between devices, enabling communication and monitoring without the need for an additional network gateway. Built-in WiFi and Bluetooth allow for configuration and integration with the SEMS platform directly after installation. This simplifies the installation process and reduces the initial system setup costs.
What are the key differences between the GoodWe MIS 2-in-1 and the standard MIS 1.6-2 kW model?
The standard MIS (1.6-2 kW) supports one or two panels with 4 independent MPPT inputs and is designed for rooftop installations with higher individual power output. The 2-in-1 variant (800 W) is a compact solution for two modules with dual MPPT, optimized for balcony and small plug-in systems. Both models have an IP67 protection rating and the same low-voltage architecture (max 60-65 V DC).
What monitoring capabilities does the SEMS platform offer for GoodWe MIS installations?
The SEMS (Smart Energy Management System) platform provides free, real-time monitoring of each module individually. Users can view energy production, performance graphs, historical data, and diagnostic alerts. The system also allows for remote software updates for inverters and simultaneous monitoring of installations in multiple locations, which simplifies management for both producers and installers.
