The Fronius GEN24 series are modern grid-connected inverters featuring an advanced backup power function, designed for residential and small commercial installations. In the GEN24 Plus versions, they operate as hybrid inverters - enabling energy storage and compatibility with compatible batteries (including BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM and LG FLEX). In practice, this translates to higher autarky consumption and a genuine readiness for prosumer billing.

A key feature is PV Point - built-in basic backup power that can operate even without batteries, as long as it is sunny. For more demanding applications, the Full Backup option is available, requiring additional transfer switches.

Two MPPTs simplify the design of rooftop systems with different orientations and better handle partial shading. High European efficiency translates into stable yields under typical operating conditions in Poland. Monitoring and communication (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, integration with the Fronius Solar.web ecosystem) enable quick system diagnostics and optimized energy consumption. The devices meet required standards and have access to current certificates, with the manufacturer offering extended warranty packages.

About the Fronius GEN24 series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this model's own.

What are the key differences between the Fronius GEN24 and the GEN24 Plus version?
The basic GEN24 is a grid-tied inverter with PV Point functionality, meaning it provides minimal backup power throughout the day without the need for batteries. The GEN24 Plus version is a hybrid inverter that also supports energy storage systems such as BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS or HVM, and LG RESU FLEX. Only the Plus version allows for full self-consumption and the use of electricity at night from stored energy.
Does the Fronius GEN24 Plus system function during a power outage without the use of batteries?
Yes, but within certain limits. Thanks to the PV Point function of the inverter, it can power selected household circuits only during the day, when solar panels generate energy. Without batteries, the power and availability of backup power depend on sunlight. Full backup power, including for large appliances such as heat pumps, is only achieved with the Full Backup option, which requires batteries and additional switching components.
Which batteries are compatible with the Fronius GEN24 Plus inverter?
The Fronius GEN24 Plus is officially compatible with BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS (5.1-10.2 kWh) and HVM (11.0-22.1 kWh) batteries, as well as LG RESU FLEX. The list of certified batteries is regularly updated by the manufacturer. Before purchasing a storage system, it is advisable to check the current compatibility list on the Fronius website, as connecting an uncertified battery may lead to warranty issues.
What is the warranty on Fronius GEN24 inverters?
The standard manufacturer's warranty is 2 years. After registering the device on the Fronius Solar.web platform, the warranty is extended free of charge to 7 years. Fronius also offers paid extended warranty packages that cover a longer period of protection or additional service support, which is particularly beneficial in hybrid systems with batteries.
Is the Fronius GEN24 suitable for roofs with panels in various orientations?
Yes, the GEN24 series features two independent MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controllers, which allows for the connection of two separate strings of panels with different orientations or angles, such as a southern and eastern-facing array. Each MPPT operates independently, so shading or poor performance on one string does not affect the performance of the other. This is a significant advantage for typical pitched roofs in Poland.
How to monitor the performance of the Fronius GEN24 inverter, and is there a mobile app available?
The Fronius GEN24 supports communication via WiFi or Ethernet and integrates with the Fronius Solar.web platform, accessible via a web browser and a mobile app. This allows for real-time monitoring of production, consumption, battery status, and alarms. The system also enables remote updates to the inverter software and quick diagnostics without the need for an on-site technician.
