The SunKean Aurora Tile / N Type Solar Tile Series are Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) roofing tiles that combine the function of roof covering with energy production - without compromising aesthetics. Instead of traditional panels mounted on frames, you receive a roof-integrated structure, making the installation lower, more visually consistent, and easier to integrate into projects where the appearance of the facade and roofline are important. The use of N-type monocrystalline solar cells helps minimize losses due to degradation and supports stable performance over a longer period. The tiles feature anti-reflective glass, which improves light utilization under typical Polish conditions (variable sunshine, frequent cloud cover). The entire system is completed by a high-sealing connection box, which is essential when working in rain and snow. This solution is ideal for single-family homes, modern residential developments, and buildings where standard modules detract from the building's aesthetics or make it difficult to obtain conservation approval.

Common questions

6 answered
Are SunKean Aurora Tile solar tiles suitable for a typical pitched roof on a single-family home?
Yes, the Aurora Tile series is designed specifically for pitched roofs. As BIPV solar tiles, they replace conventional roofing material and are laid directly on roof battens without any additional racking system. This integrates them flush with the roof line, preserving its natural appearance. The solution works well for new construction as well as for projects that involve replacing an existing roof covering.
How do SunKean Aurora Tile solar tiles differ from conventional rooftop solar panels?
Standard solar panels are mounted on a metal racking system above an existing roof covering, raising them above the roof surface and altering the building's silhouette. Aurora Tile is a BIPV product that simultaneously serves as the roof covering and generates electricity. The visual result is far more cohesive, which matters for heritage-listed buildings requiring conservation authority approval and for modern residential developments where architectural aesthetics are a priority.
What warranty does SunKean offer on the Aurora Tile series?
SunKean provides a 12-year product warranty covering material and workmanship defects. A separate 25-year linear power output warranty guarantees that the tiles will retain a specified percentage of their rated output over a quarter century. This is a competitive warranty range for N-type BIPV products. Before purchasing, verify the exact power degradation thresholds with an authorized distributor.
What is N-type cell technology and why does the Aurora Tile series use it?
N-type monocrystalline cells use a phosphorus-doped silicon base instead of the boron-doped base found in older P-type cells such as PERC. This makes them significantly less susceptible to light-induced degradation (LID) and delivers more stable output over the module's lifetime. In Polish climatic conditions, where irradiance is variable and often lower than in Southern Europe, the better low-light performance of N-type cells translates into a measurably higher annual energy yield compared to PERC technology.
How does Aurora Tile perform in rain, snow, and freezing temperatures?
The tile features a high-IP-rated junction box that protects the electrical connections against heavy rainfall and snowmelt. The anti-reflective coated glass improves light transmission at the low sun angles typical of winter in Poland. N-type cells also have a lower temperature coefficient than standard cells, meaning they lose less output in cold weather than they lose in heat, which is advantageous for the Polish climate.
What is the power output of a single SunKean Aurora Tile and how many do I need for a home?
Each Aurora Tile module is rated at a maximum of 110 Wp. For a typical 6 kWp residential system, you would need approximately 55 tiles. The actual number depends on roof orientation, tilt angle, household electricity consumption, and shading conditions. A certified installer should always design the system to match the specific characteristics of your building.
