The Sonnex Energie NeX Series SNX-D54HND is a series of TOPCon N-type modules with a dual glass and bifacial design, specifically engineered for stable operation and higher energy yield throughout the year. The use of N-type cells means no LID (light-induced degradation) and better long-term performance, which translates to predictable energy production and reduced risk of disappointment after several seasons. The dual-glass construction also increases resistance to moisture, microcracks, and challenging mounting conditions, making this series well-suited for roofs exposed to loads and installations where durability is paramount.

Thanks to its bifacial design, the module can utilize reflected light from the ground - a practical advantage, especially on bright roofs, ground-mounted structures, and carports, where additional energy gain can be easily obtained without expanding the system. The NeX SNX-D54HND also features long warranties for glass-glass modules, which distinguishes it from many competing solutions that primarily focus on price.

Common questions

6 answered
What does the 30-year warranty on the Sonnex Energie NeX SNX-D54HND panels actually cover?
The NeX SNX-D54HND series comes with both a 30-year product warranty and a 30-year linear power warranty — one of the longest guarantees available in its class, made possible by the more durable dual glass construction. After 30 years of operation, the module is warranted to retain at least 87.4% of its nominal 435 W output. Most modules with standard polymer backsheets offer only 12–15 years of product warranty, making this series stand out significantly in terms of investment protection.
How does TOPCon N-type technology in the NeX series differ from common PERC cells, and does it matter in practice?
TOPCon N-type cells are not subject to LID (Light Induced Degradation), which typically causes PERC modules to lose 1–2% of power during the first weeks of operation. The NeX SNX-D54HND delivers its rated output from day one. Additionally, the temperature coefficient of −0.32%/°C means lower power losses on hot summer days compared to P-type cells. The result is more predictable energy production across all seasons.
Is the NeX SNX-D54HND suitable for pitched roof installation, and is its weight a concern?
Yes, the module is compatible with standard racking systems used on pitched roofs. Its 1722×1134×30 mm dimensions are typical for panels in this power class. At approximately 24.5 kg, it is slightly heavier than standard backsheet modules (around 20–22 kg), so it is worth verifying roof load capacity during the design phase. For most well-built residential roofs this is not a limiting factor, but it should be included in the structural assessment.
How much extra energy can the bifacial rear side of the SNX-D54HND realistically generate, and when does it pay off?
Real-world bifacial gain depends on surface albedo and mounting height. On light or white roof surfaces, gravel ballast, and ground-mounted systems you can expect 5–15% additional yield from the rear side. On dark rooftops the gain is minimal. The best conditions for bifacial production are ground mounts and carports where the module sits above a reflective surface — exactly the applications for which the NeX SNX-D54HND series is particularly well suited.
How do the NeX SNX-D54HND modules perform in winter and under low-irradiance conditions?
PV modules perform more efficiently in cool temperatures than in summer heat — lower cell temperature raises open-circuit voltage and instantaneous output. TOPCon technology with a temperature coefficient of −0.32%/°C also maintains strong performance under diffuse irradiance and overcast skies, which are common during Central European autumn and winter months. This results in a more consistent annual energy yield profile compared to older-generation modules.
Does the dual glass construction of the SNX-D54HND improve durability, and are there any drawbacks?
Yes — replacing the polymer backsheet with a second glass layer eliminates the primary moisture ingress path into the laminate, reducing the risk of cell corrosion and micro-cracking under mechanical stress. Dual glass modules handle demanding installation environments and heavy snow or wind loads better than standard backsheet panels. The trade-offs are slightly higher weight and a higher upfront cost, both of which are offset by the extended service life and 30-year product warranty.
