Efficiency leader, weak in heat
The KIOTO Solar MODULE POWER series consists of photovoltaic panels manufactured in Austria, which stand out from the competition due to their rigorous quality control at every stage of production. The modules are available in both monocrystalline and polycrystalline versions, allowing for solutions to be tailored to both roof-mounted installations with limited space and larger ground-mounted systems. A key advantage of the series is the anti-PID technology, which protects the cells from degradation caused by electrical potential - a problem that significantly reduces the lifespan of cheaper modules. The modules are sorted with precision to 0.1 A, minimizing losses due to parameter mismatches. The series also offers exceptionally high hail resistance - certified for a 55 mm diameter hailstone, providing peace of mind for users in regions with variable weather conditions. 25-year linear power warranty with over 80% efficiency confirms the durability of these modules in long-term investments. The MODULE POWER series is designed for demanding installations connected to the grid, both in residential and commercial buildings.
Ranking
Signals from the data
Residential and commercial.
Hot climates.
Top 1% of the TOPCon 400-450 W segment, against a median of 22.00%. Ranked 2,683rd in the whole database.
Top 21% of the TOPCon 400-450 W segment, against a median of 220.2.
Bottom 7% of the TOPCon 400-450 W segment, against a median of -0.290. Ranked 8,312th in the whole database.
KIOTO Solar offers 30 years of both product and linear power warranty, well beyond the industry-standard 12-15 year product and 25-year power warranties offered by most peers (SunKean, Suntech, Sunket), meaningfully lowering investment risk over the full system lifecycle.
Module efficiency reaches up to 22.83%, placing the series near the top of the segment (SunKean and Sunket achieve 23.04%, Suntech 22.5%) and well above older PERC technology, thanks to lower LID/LeTID degradation and better high-temperature performance.
The modules are certified to withstand ice ball impacts up to 55 mm in diameter, significantly exceeding the standard IEC 61215 requirement (25 mm), a key advantage in regions prone to hailstorms.
Unlike most peers manufactured in China (SunKean, Suntech, Sunket), KIOTO Solar modules are produced in Austria since 1991, with cell sorting precision down to 0.1 A, minimizing string mismatch losses and improving parameter consistency.
Built-in anti-PID protection shields the cells from potential-induced degradation, extending real-world system lifespan, especially in higher DC voltage installations and long strings.
According to manufacturer data, the MODULE POWER series is no longer in production (discontinued status), which limits the availability of replacement modules in case of failure and may complicate warranty servicing in the long term.
KIOTO Solar is not included on the BloombergNEF Tier 1 manufacturer list (as of Q1 2026), which can make bank financing (bankability) harder to obtain compared to Tier 1 modules, despite the company's long market presence since 1991.
Maximum efficiency of 22.83% is slightly lower than SunKean and Sunket New Energy (23.04% for the comparable 450 Wp power class), meaning marginally lower energy yield for the same roof area.
- 22.8% module efficiency - 0.8pp better than the TOPCon 400-450W median of 22.0%
- Power density of 222.7 W/m² matches the TOPCon 400-450W median
- Temperature coefficient of -0.32%/°C is 0.03pp worse than TOPCon 400-450W median (-0.29%/°C) - higher losses in summer heat
- #2683 for efficiency, #8312 for temperature performance out of 14005 panels
