Strong in heat, heavy for its output
The Jolywood JW-HD120N (Black Series) are solar panels designed for maximum energy yield in demanding installation conditions - without compromising on aesthetics. Key features include N-type cells in TOPCon technology, which help minimize power degradation over time and ensure stable performance, even when traditional panels lose efficiency more quickly. The bifacial construction allows capturing additional energy from reflected light, effectively boosting the economic viability on bright rooftops, ground installations, or systems with appropriately designed backs. Meanwhile, the glass-glass build enhances resistance to moisture, loads, and micro-cracks, which is crucial for installations subjected to intense operation. The Black Series also emphasizes a full, sleek black appearance - highly valued in residential and modern commercial projects. This is an excellent choice for clients seeking to combine high energy yields, durability, and a cohesive appearance for your PV system.
Ranking
Signals from the data
Residential and commercial.
Weight-limited structures.
Top 11% of the TOPCon 450-500 W segment, against a median of -0.290.
Bottom 15% of the TOPCon 450-500 W segment, against a median of 52.2.
Max. efficiency of 23.3% places the series above Canadian Solar TOPBiHiKu6 (22.8%) and nearly on par with Sunpro TOPCon 210R BIFACIAL (23.17%). The 22.2% lower bound applies only to the 490 Wp variant; the 510–515 Wp variants reach 23.1–23.3% within the same module footprint.
N-type cell architecture eliminates Light Induced Degradation (LID) inherent to P-type PERC. The manufacturer-confirmed max. annual degradation of 0.40%/yr (Year 1: max. −1%) means the module retains at least 95.4% output after 10 years — approximately 2–3 percentage points more than comparable PERC products.
Jolywood guarantees a minimum of 87.4% of rated power after 30 years at 0.40%/yr degradation, making it one of the longest and most favorable performance warranties in its price class — most PERC modules offer 25 years down to ~84.8%.
The glass-glass build improves mechanical resistance (up to 5,400 Pa snow load), reduces moisture ingress (lower PID risk), and protects cells against microcracks. The bifacial design enables 10–30% additional energy harvest from reflected irradiance — realistic on light-colored gravel ballast, white membranes, or ground surfaces with albedo ≥ 0.25.
Jolywood joined the BloombergNEF Tier-1 bankable manufacturers list in Q2 2026 (list expanded to 42 producers). Tier-1 status confirms module eligibility for projects financed by independent commercial banks and simplifies insurance underwriting for commercial-scale installations.
The product and workmanship warranty covers 12 years, which is shorter than the 15-year product warranty offered by Huasun (Aurora Pro series) for HJT modules in the same 490–515 Wp power class. For projects with a financing horizon beyond 12 years, the difference is material when pursuing latent-defect claims.
The claimed 10–30% rear-side energy gain requires substrate albedo ≥ 0.25 and a minimum roof clearance of ~15–30 cm. Typical Polish pitched-roof installations with dark roof tiles or bituminous membranes have albedo of 0.05–0.12, limiting the actual bifacial gain to 2–6%. On standard rooftop systems the bifacial argument has a marginal impact on LCOE.
- Efficiency of 22.4% matches the TOPCon 450-500W median
- Power density of 223.8 W/m² matches the TOPCon 450-500W median
- At -0.28%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for TOPCon 450-500W panels
- At 27.3 kg, this panel is 3.3 kg heavier than the TOPCon 450-500W median (24.0 kg) - more demanding for installation crews
- Bifacial design (80% factor) captures reflected light - adds 4-12% yield on ground-mount or white roof
