Middle of its segment, weak in heat
The IBC MonoSol MS10-HC-N GEN2 series is based on innovative N-type cells in TOPCon technology, which directly translates into higher efficiency and a significantly slower module degradation rate compared to standard solutions. Thanks to the use of a Half-Cut design, these panels offer excellent resistance to the negative effects of shading by dividing the module into two independent sections, allowing for stable energy production even in difficult installation conditions. This solution perfectly addresses the needs of single-family home owners and businesses looking for maximum efficiency per square meter of the roof. What sets this series apart from the competition is an exceptionally favorable temperature coefficient, guaranteeing high power production even on very sunny and hot days. Investing in these modules primarily means relying on German quality control standards, which eliminate the risk of micro-cracks or premature failures. By choosing the GEN2 series, the user receives a product optimized for the Polish climate, combining an aesthetic appearance with uncompromising durability and guaranteed yields for over 25 years of operation. This series sets a new level of profitability, minimizing the total cost of energy throughout the entire life cycle of the photovoltaic installation.

Back Contact architecture moves all electrical contacts to the rear of the cell, eliminating front-busbar shading losses (~2–3% vs. PERC). Combined with N-type TOPCon, the temperature coefficient reaches -0.29 %/°C (typical PERC: -0.35 to -0.40 %/°C), delivering roughly 2.5 percentage points higher output at 65°C cell temperature. N-type cells also exhibit near-zero LID effect.
The MS10-HC-N GEN2 series achieves up to 22.27% module efficiency, outperforming SunEvo SE6-46SC (21.4%) and Solitek SOLRIF D Satin (22.06%), and matching Q-Cells Q.TRON BLACK (22.3%) at the same 445 Wp ceiling. On a 20 m² rooftop, this translates to approximately 60–80 Wp more than an average PERC module of the same footprint.
IBC Solar's official warranty document (updated October 15, 2024) guarantees ≥97.5% power at delivery, followed by max. 0.7%/year degradation, yielding ≥87.4% after 30 years. This surpasses Q-Cells Q.TRON BLACK, which covers only 25 years at ≥90.58% — IBC Solar provides 5 additional years of coverage, a key advantage for projects financed over a 25–30-year horizon.
IBC Solar AG (Bad Staffelstein, Germany) has operated continuously since 1982, making it one of the longest-standing PV integrators and distributors in Europe. The manufacturer warranty is backed by a financially credible European entity, reducing currency-risk and logistics complexity for warranty claims compared to non-EU OEMs.
Splitting 108 cells into two independent electrical sections (2×54 half-cut) limits the impact of localized shading — a fault in one section reduces module output by at most 50%, not 100% as with full-cell designs. Field tests show half-cut modules deliver 1.5–3% higher annual yield in installations affected by partial shading from chimneys or antennas versus full-cell equivalents.
The MS10-HC-N GEN2 series carries a discontinued status as of its launch year (2023). This results in limited and declining availability of new modules on the secondary market, risk of unavailability of identical replacement panels under the 30-year power warranty, and potential Voc/Imp mismatch issues if the DC string needs to be expanded later.
The Tier-1 market standard in 2024–2025 is a 25-year product warranty (e.g., Q-Cells Q.TRON BLACK: 25 years, Solitek SOLRIF: 25 years). The MS10-HC-N GEN2 offers only 15 years, leaving 10 years of operation without manufacturer coverage for material and workmanship defects — a material limitation for projects financed via loans or leasing agreements.
The Back Contact architecture in this series does not support albedo gain. In ground-mount or flat-roof installations with light-colored membranes, bifacial N-type modules (e.g., Trina Vertex S+, LONGi Hi-MO 6) generate 5–12% more annual energy from reflected irradiance. The difference is negligible for pitched-roof residential installs, but represents a real yield gap for commercial ground-mount projects.
- Efficiency of 21.8% is 0.5pp below the Back Contact 400-450W median (22.3%)
- At 217.7 W/m², this panel generates 5.0 W/m² less per unit area than Back Contact 400-450W median (222.7 W/m²)
- Temperature coefficient of -0.30%/°C matches the Back Contact 400-450W median
- At 22.0 kg, this panel is 1.2 kg heavier than the Back Contact 400-450W median (20.8 kg) - more demanding for installation crews
