Space saver, no clear weak spot
The Hiwatt Solar HW-M6/144H(440-460) series is designed as a half-cell N-type monocrystalline module, which allows for stable operation in challenging conditions and maintains high efficiency for a longer period. The use of half-cell splitting results in lower operating currents, which effectively reduces losses in connections and helps minimize the risk of localized overheating, especially in partially shaded or dirty conditions. A key feature of this series is enhanced PID resistance - which is important in installations operating at higher voltages and in varying humidity conditions. From an investor's perspective, good performance at high temperatures is also a significant advantage, leading to better summer performance and more predictable energy production. This is a good choice for rooftop and ground-mounted installations in Poland, where you need high power from a limited area, as well as reliability over many years of operation.

Residential, commercial, shaded-installations and hot-climate.
Top 18% of the PERC 450-500 W segment, against a median of 208.5.

Splitting cells in half reduces operating currents by ~50%, lowering resistive losses and improving partial-shading tolerance. Compared to full-cell modules, power loss under row-shading events is several times lower because each half-cell substring operates independently.
The series includes dedicated Potential Induced Degradation protection, critical for systems operating above 1,000 V in variable-humidity conditions — typical of Polish rooftop installs in summer. Effective PID resistance prevents irreversible power loss in the string's outer modules.
The 440–460 Wp power range allows a target system size to be reached with fewer modules, reducing BoS costs (cabling, racking). For a typical 10 kWp residential system, only 22–23 panels are needed versus 28–33 panels with legacy 300–360 Wp modules.
The manufacturer guarantees linear power degradation over 25 years — on par with the mid-tier segment standard. This enables credible LCOE modeling and annual yield forecasts in both bank financing documents and prosumer energy audits.
The maximum 21% module efficiency lags direct peers: Risen RSM96-11-440-460BNDG reaches 23%, SunKean SKT440~460M12-96D4 reaches 23.02%. The ~2 pp gap means peers generate roughly 9–10% more energy from the same roof area, or equivalently save ~0.5 m² per 10 kWp compared to this series.
P-type PERC cells exhibit ~2% first-year LID and ~0.6–0.8%/year ongoing degradation, versus ~1% / ~0.4%/year for the N-type TOPCon used by Risen and SunKean. After 25 years, PERC modules retain approximately 83–85% of rated power, while TOPCon retains over 90% — a gap of roughly 500–700 kWh/year in lost generation for a 10 kWp system in its final decade of operation.
Hiwatt Solar does not appear on BNEF Tier-1 Bankable Manufacturer lists (verified Q1 2025 through Q1 2026). In practice, this blocks or significantly complicates bank financing for commercial and industrial (C&I) projects, where project agreements and insurers typically require modules from BNEF-listed Tier-1 manufacturers.
- Efficiency of 21.0% matches the PERC 450-500W median
- At 211.6 W/m² power density, this panel generates 3.1 W/m² more per unit area than PERC 450-500W median (208.5 W/m²)
- At -0.34%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for PERC 450-500W panels
- In the top 70% for efficiency among all PERC panels
