Middle of its segment, modest efficiency
The Gokin GK-5-54HG series of photovoltaic panels utilizes advanced N-type TOPCon cell technology, which allows for significantly higher efficiency than traditional P-type modules. Thanks to the bifacial double-glass design, these panels are able to absorb light reflected from the ground, which directly translates into higher annual energy yields, even in lower sunlight conditions. The use of double glass solves the problem of micro-cracks and cell corrosion, which significantly extends the lifespan of the entire installation and ensures investment security for years. This series stands out with a low power degradation rate, meaning that the modules maintain nearly nominal performance for a very long time. Gokin GK-5-54HG is a solution dedicated primarily to demanding residential installations and large PV farms, where maximizing production from every square meter is key. Compared to standard competitors, this series offers better thermal stability, operating more efficiently during summer heat. The compact 54-cell format makes the modules lightweight and handy, which facilitates logistics and installation on roofs with complex geometry, without losing strength parameters. This is a substantive choice for professionals who prioritize innovation and durability of photovoltaic components.

Back Contact technology relocates all metallic contacts to the rear of the cell, eliminating front-side grid shading and achieving up to 24.3% module efficiency. This result is on par with the Jinko Tiger Neo III 48QL6-DB (24.27%) — the leading commercial TOPCon module in this format. For a 20 m² roof, this translates to a realistic 5–10% increase in annual energy yield compared to standard PERC modules (~20% efficiency).
Back Contact cells exhibit a temperature coefficient of approximately –0.26%/°C (confirmed by Gokin for the GK-3-54HGFb series, which shares an identical architecture), whereas standard TOPCon modules typically range from –0.28 to –0.30%/°C. At a module temperature of 70°C — typical for a Polish summer — the GK-5-54HG loses approximately 11.7% of its rated power relative to STC, compared to roughly 12.6% for a comparable TOPCon module; the difference accumulates meaningfully over July and August.
The manufacturer provides a 30-year linear power output warranty alongside a 15-year product warranty. Peer comparables ZNShine ZXM7-UHLD120 and Emmvee TITANIUM BLACK offer equivalent warranty periods; however, Jinko's Tier-1 standing provides stronger financial backing. The extended warranty term is well-suited to prosumer installations financed through 15–25-year loan agreements.
The 54-cell format yields a smaller module footprint (~1.8 × 1.1 m, estimated 21–22 kg) compared to standard 60- and 72-cell competitors. This facilitates installation on complex roof geometries, dormers, and smaller roof sections without the need for field cutting — a meaningful advantage in residential retrofit projects.
In April 2026, Gokin Solar announced a deepened strategic partnership with AIKO, a Back Contact cell manufacturer widely recognized as the technology leader in this segment (AIKO regularly sets BC efficiency records exceeding 25%). Access to AIKO cells reduces the supply quality degradation risk that is characteristic of smaller manufacturers operating independently of Tier-1 supply chains.
Gokin Solar does not appear on the BNEF Tier-1 Bankable Manufacturers list (Q1 2026). Unlike peer comparable Jinko Solar — a long-standing Tier-1 manufacturer — the absence of Tier-1 status may complicate access to project finance for commercial installations and utility-scale PV plants; some insurers also apply higher premiums or decline coverage for modules from manufacturers outside the list.
The lowest-wattage variant at 445 Wp achieves 22.3% efficiency — only 0.1 percentage points above peer ZNShine ZXM7-UHLD120 (22.47% max) and Emmvee (22.4% max), both of which are based on less costly TOPCon/monofacial technology. If the Back Contact architecture commands a price premium, the lower GK-5-54HG bins deliver a disproportionately small efficiency gain relative to the added cost.
The GK-5-54HG series is monofacial (is_bifacial: false), precluding any energy gain from ground-reflected irradiance. Bifacial TOPCon modules in this power class — such as the Jinko Tiger Neo III 48QL6-DB — generate 5–15% additional energy on installations with high-albedo surfaces (gravel, snow, light-colored roofing membrane), which on a 10 kWp system can represent 300–700 kWh/year of lost yield relative to a bifacial competitor.
- Module efficiency of 22.8% is 0.7pp below average for Back Contact 450-500W panels (median: 23.5%)
- At 228.4 W/m², this panel generates 6.8 W/m² less per unit area than Back Contact 450-500W median (235.2 W/m²)
- Temperature coefficient of -0.26%/°C matches the Back Contact 450-500W median
- At 21.0 kg, this panel is 2.5 kg lighter than Back Contact 450-500W median (23.5 kg) - easier handling during installation
- In the top 19% for efficiency among all Back Contact panels
