Space saver, no clear weak spot
The HY-NT10/72GDF HT TOPCon Bifacial series comprises photovoltaic modules engineered for the most demanding operating conditions - designed primarily for marine applications, where standard panels fail to withstand the test of time. Thanks to N-Type TOPCon technology, the cells feature significantly lower light-induced degradation (LID) and excellent performance under low irradiance, ensuring stable energy yields throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions. The bifacial dual-sided design effectively harnesses light reflected from the ground or water surface, tangibly increasing energy production without additional investment costs. SMBB technology with non-destructive cutting reduces internal current losses and minimizes the risk of microcracks, directly translating into a longer module lifespan. A key differentiator of the series is its exceptional resistance to extreme environmental conditions - wind, wave impact, salt fog, UV radiation, and moisture - confirmed by an IP68-rated junction box. The series performs excellently in offshore and coastal installations, as well as in large commercial and industrial ground-mounted farms, where reliability and low levelized cost of energy over decades of operation are essential.
Ranking
Signals from the data
Utility-scale, commercial and floating.
Top 17% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 224.4.
Top 22% of the TOPCon 550-600 W segment, against a median of 22.44%.
The series achieves up to 23.6% module efficiency, compared to just 21.55–21.6% for direct peer comparables (GCL-M12/60GDF, Techwise Summit Series, Seraphim Seco — all rated to 610 Wp). This translates to approximately 8.4% less roof/deck area needed for the same rated power, a critical advantage in marine deployments with constrained mounting surfaces.
Temperature coefficient of Pmpp is -0.29%/°C versus a typical -0.34 to -0.40%/°C for PERC cells. In Mediterranean climates at 35°C above STC, this yields approximately 1.7% more hourly output compared to a PERC module of equal STC rating. N-type architecture also eliminates light-induced degradation (LID), keeping year-one degradation below 1%.
The series has passed salt mist testing per IEC 61701 and ammonia resistance per IEC 62716, with an IP68-rated junction box — durability credentials not explicitly declared in peer-comparable datasheets. A bifaciality factor of 80±5% synergizes with water-surface reflectance, generating a realistically achievable 10–25% bifacial gain above a standard land-based installation.
The manufacturer guarantees at least 87.4% of nameplate power after 30 years, matching the Jinko Solar Tiger Neo warranty (87.4%/30 yr) and exceeding the standard 25-year performance guarantees of most peer comparables in this power class. For a 1 MWp project, the additional five years of warranty coverage is a meaningful LCOE differentiator.
Super Multi Busbar technology (16 busbars) combined with non-destructive cutting reduces cell series resistance and micro-crack formation during handling and operation — particularly relevant under dynamic mechanical loading (wave motion, vibration) typical of marine and offshore environments. Micro-crack-induced power loss is estimated below 0.5% over the first 10 years.
GL Solar does not appear in publicly available BNEF Tier-1 module manufacturer rankings (Q1 2026). For commercial projects exceeding 1 MWp seeking non-recourse bank financing, manufacturer bankability is a standard due-diligence requirement. This may create a barrier to entry into large utility-scale and commercial farm markets and could require additional financial guarantees or insurance instruments from the project developer.
- Efficiency of 22.8% matches the TOPCon 550-600W median
- 228.4 W/m² power density - 4.0 W/m² more than TOPCon 550-600W median (224.4 W/m²), more power per roof area
- At -0.29%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for TOPCon 550-600W panels
- Bifaciality factor of 80% can add 4-12% extra yield with reflective mounting surface
- #2714 for efficiency, #2165 for temperature performance out of 14005 panels
