Warranty pick, heavy for its output
The AE Solar AURORA MD-108BD series redefines energy efficiency standards through the use of advanced N-type TOPCon cell technology, which ensures a significantly lower degradation rate and higher efficiency compared to traditional solutions. A key differentiator of this line is the bifacial glass-glass design, which enables the generation of additional power from reflected light, practically solving the problem of low efficiency on cloudy days or at unfavorable angles of incidence. Thanks to the use of gallium-doped silicon, these modules exhibit near-zero LID effect, resulting in stable power output for decades. The double-tempered glass construction not only increases mechanical resistance to hail and snow loads but also guarantees the highest fire safety class, which is crucial for residential installations. Aurora MD-108BD is the choice for investors demanding uncompromising quality, as these panels handle high temperatures and micro-cracks better than standard monofacial modules. This is an ideal solution for modern photovoltaic systems where the priority is maximizing yields from limited roof area and long-term capital protection by minimizing the risk of technical failures.

AE Solar (headquartered in Germany, founded in 2003) has been included in BNEF's Tier 1 list for the 16th consecutive quarter (Q1 2025) and ranked 18th out of 67 evaluated manufacturers in the BNEF Global PV Module Bankability 2024 report, making it the only European manufacturer in the ranking. This indicates a lower supply chain risk and geopolitical exposure compared to its Asian competitors (Aptos Solar, LEDVANCE OEM, Sunova).
The AURORA series has been recognized as a Top Performer in the independent Kiwa PVEL 2025 tests, confirming the durability and actual performance of the module under conditions deviating from Standard Test Conditions (STC) - which is particularly important when assessing technical risks in projects financed by banks.
The highest variant, AURORA MD-108BD, achieves an efficiency of 21.28%, slightly but measurably exceeding all three reference models (Aptos Solar DNA 108-Monofacial, LEDVANCE M395~415P54LM-BF-F3, Sunova TS-BG54 X), which are all at 21.25%. With a typical roof area of 30 m², the difference of 0.03% represents approximately 0.5-1 Watt per module.
While the Aptos Solar DNA 108 direct comparison module is a monofacial module, the AURORA MD-108BD offers a bifacial glass-glass construction, generating additional power from reflected light (typical bifacial gain: 5-15% depending on the substrate albedo). The double-pane tempered glass also increases resistance to static discharge and fire.
Both the product warranty and the power warranty are 30 years long, exceeding the industry standard of 25 years used by most Tier 1 manufacturers in this power range. AE Solar's bankability has increased from 26% (2023) to 50% (2024), which reduces the risk of warranty loss due to the manufacturer's financial difficulties.
The MD-108BD series is based on P-type PERC cells with a temperature coefficient of -0.35%/°C. Modern N-type TOPCon modules, available in the same power and price range, achieve -0.30 to -0.32%/°C, which, at a cell temperature of 65°C (typical Polish summer), translates to a real increase in power losses of approximately 1-1.5% in peak season. P-type cells also exhibit a higher LID (light-induced degradation) effect compared to N-type cells.
- At 20.8% efficiency, this panel is on par with typical PERC 400-450W modules
- Power density of 207.7 W/m² matches the PERC 400-450W median
- At -0.35%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for PERC 400-450W panels
- Weight of 23.5 kg is 1.5 kg above PERC 400-450W median (22.0 kg) - verify structural support
- Bifacial design (70% factor) captures reflected light - adds 4-10% yield on ground-mount or white roof
