Light for its output, no clear weak spot
The AE Solar AURORA MD-144 panel series sets new standards of efficiency through the use of advanced monocrystalline half-cut cell technology. The design based on 144 half-cells significantly reduces resistive losses, which translates to more stable system operation even in very demanding lighting conditions. A key distinguishing feature of this series is gallium-doped silicon, which effectively eliminates the LID degradation phenomenon, ensuring users maintain maximum power output for many decades. These panels handle the problem of partial shading and the negative impact of high temperatures perfectly, offering a significantly higher energy yield compared to standard full-cell modules. Thanks to exceptional resistance to extreme mechanical loads, the AURORA MD-144 series is an ideal solution for large commercial and industrial installations as well as solar farms, where reliability and a fast return on investment are of key importance. The use of certified anti-PID technology additionally protects the modules against harmful current leakage, which clearly distinguishes them from cheaper, less durable substitutes available on the market. It is an excellent choice for professional installers and investors focusing on innovations that really increase the energy efficiency of the facility, while minimizing operational and maintenance costs of the entire system in the long term.

Signals from the data
Commercial, utility-scale and shaded-installations.
Top 7% of the PERC 500-550 W segment, against a median of 53.0. Ranked 2,378th in the whole database.
Top 11% of the PERC 500-550 W segment, against a median of 209.0.
Top 12% of the PERC 500-550 W segment, against a median of 20.90%.
The use of gallium doped with germanium instead of boron eliminated the B-O recombination, which is responsible for LID (light-induced degradation) in traditional P-type PERC cells. The AE Solar MD-144 datasheet guarantees a degradation of ≤0.4%/year from the 2nd year of operation and a power output ≥87.4% after 30 years - a result comparable to leading N-type TOPCon modules.
The series achieves efficiencies ranging from 20.53% to 21.31%, placing it directly in competition with products such as the Goldi Solar GS10-B144-TF (21.3%), IBC Solar 182M Half Cell (21.28%), and the S-Energy SL65-72BGJ (21.3%). The series performs competitively against rivals in the same technological segment.
AE Solar offers both a 30-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty - a significant advantage compared to the industry standard, where tier-1 manufacturers typically offer a 10-15 year product warranty and a 25-year performance warranty (e.g., Trina, JA Solar).
AE Solar appears on the BNEF Tier 1 list for the 16th consecutive year, and the bankability of the manufacturer has increased from 26% (2023) to 50% (2024). This makes AE Solar the only European manufacturer on the BNEF 2024 bankability list, which directly reduces the cost of project financing for banks.
The series holds certifications according to IEC 62716 (ammonia), IEC 61701 (salt fog), IEC 60068 (sand/dust), and IEC 62804 (PID), which are regularly verified by TÜV. This allows for the qualification of installations in agricultural, coastal, and industrial environments without the need for additional testing.
The AURORA MD-144 series is based on P-type PERC technology, while the market is rapidly shifting towards N-type TOPCon - independent analyses from 2025 indicate that TOPCon generates approximately 1.5-2.5% more energy annually (lower degradation, higher efficiencies up to 25%+). AE Solar has also introduced a newer Meteor CMD-144 series in TOPCon technology (560-580 W, efficiency ~22.3%), suggesting that the AURORA MD-144 is losing its position as a flagship product in the manufacturer's portfolio.
- Efficiency of 21.1% matches the PERC 500-550W median
- At 211.2 W/m² power density, roof space requirements are typical for PERC 500-550W panels
- At -0.35%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for PERC 500-550W panels
- Weight of 26.5 kg (1.8 kg below PERC 500-550W median of 28.3 kg) allows easier transport and roof mounting
- In the top 66% for efficiency among all PERC panels
