The GoodWe ET (ET G2) series are three-phase hybrid inverters designed for maximizing self-consumption and stable operation in residential and small commercial PV installations. Their key advantage is UPS standard backup - the switching is so efficient that in practice, it maintains operation of selected circuits without annoying interruptions. The series offers three independent MPPTs, facilitating the design of installations on different roof pitches and improving yields during partial shading, as each string can operate at its own power point. High European efficiency means genuinely fewer losses under typical operating conditions, thus more energy available for consumption or battery charging. The ET works with high-voltage energy storage systems and supports smart load management, including peak shaving and phase-asymmetrical energy feeding. Monitoring is done via the SEMS portal and app, as well as communication interfaces such as WiFi and LAN. It's also worth noting the available safety features, such as optional AFCI.

Pros and cons

5 positive · 1 caution
What owners get
UPS level - EPS below 10 ms

The official datasheet for the ET G2 specifies a switchover time to backup power of less than 10 ms, which, in practice, corresponds to the standard for industrial-grade UPS systems. Competitors in this segment (e.g., Huawei SUN2000-L1, Fronius Symo GEN24) declare a switchover time of 20-30 ms, which, with sensitive devices (NAS, routers, refrigerators), can lead to device restarts.

3 independent MPPT + 200% oversizing DC

Three separate MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controllers allow you to connect PV (photovoltaic) strings with different orientations and inclines without affecting each other's power points. The allowable DC overload is 200% of the nominal power, which enables the installation of a larger string without the need for a higher-power inverter - typically reducing the CAPEX (capital expenditure) of the installation by 5-10%.

Maximum efficiency: 98.2%, European standard > 97%

The ET G2 datasheet confirms η_max = 98.2% and an European efficiency exceeding 97%, placing the series among the leading three-phase hybrid inverters in the 6-15 kW class. This translates to significantly lower conversion losses throughout the year, under the variable solar irradiation conditions typical of Poland.

BNEF Tier 1, Q1 2026, > 100 GW globally

GoodWe maintains its Tier 1 status from BloombergNEF and achieved it again in Q1 2026, which confirms the financial viability of the manufacturer and facilitates project financing by banks and funds. The installed global capacity exceeds 100 GW, resulting in a mature service network and ongoing technical support.

Integrated AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) and Type II surge protection

The ET G2 series offers integrated AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) that detects arc faults on the DC side - a feature required by some insurers and building codes (IEC 63027). DC and AC surge protection is integrated and factory-installed, eliminating the need to purchase additional surge protection devices.

Trade-offs
Convection derating above 45°C ambient temperature

Independent reviews (from SolarQuotes Australia and installer forums) confirm that ET models rely on natural convection cooling and note a significant reduction in power output when the ambient temperature exceeds 45°C. While the climate in Poland rarely exceeds this temperature outdoors, inverters installed in unshaded, poorly ventilated technical rooms (garages, boiler rooms) may experience derating in July/August, limiting output during peak production hours.

About the GoodWe ET series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this model's own.

How quickly does a GoodWe ET inverter switch to backup power in the event of a power outage?
The GoodWe ET inverter switches to backup power in less than 10 milliseconds, which meets the standard for UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems. In practice, this means that sensitive devices connected to dedicated backup circuits (e.g., routers, refrigerators, lighting) will not experience any interruption in power. This is one of the key advantages of this series compared to cheaper hybrid inverters, which switch over after 20-100 ms.
Which energy storage systems are compatible with the GoodWe ET inverter?
The GoodWe ET inverters support high-voltage energy storage systems ranging from 150-720 V DC. They are directly compatible with GoodWe Lynx Home F and Lynx Home F+ batteries. The ET series also works with popular BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS batteries. The ability to handle high voltage results in lower transmission losses and higher overall system efficiency compared to low-voltage solutions.
Is the GoodWe ET G2 suitable for installation on a roof with solar panels arranged across multiple sections?
Yes, the GoodWe ET G2 series features 3 independent MPPT inputs, which allows you to connect strings of panels facing different directions or at different angles. Each string operates at its optimal power point, so shading or a different orientation of one section does not reduce the performance of the others. This is particularly useful for roofs with four-pitched or L-shaped designs.
What is the function of "peak shaving" in the GoodWe ET inverters, and is it beneficial to enable it?
Peak-shaving mode, in which the inverter automatically initiates battery discharge when the power consumption from the grid exceeds a specified limit. This prevents exceeding the contracted power capacity and associated fees. For prosumers with a business tariff or a contract with a power limit, this feature can significantly reduce energy bills, especially when there are short, high spikes in power consumption in the home or business.
What is the warranty on the GoodWe ET inverter, and how can it be extended?
The standard warranty for the GoodWe ET inverter is 5 years. Upon registering the device in the SEMS app and meeting the terms of the GoodWe promotion, the warranty is extended free of charge to 10 years. It is also possible to extend it further to 15 or 20 years through optional service packages. GoodWe is a Tier 1 manufacturer, which confirms its financial stability and availability of service over the long term.
What is the AFCI function in the GoodWe ET G2 inverter, and is it worth paying extra for this feature?
AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) is an integrated safety feature that detects dangerous electrical arcs in DC wiring, which can lead to a fire in the installation. The GoodWe ET G2 is available with AFCI 3.0. Insurers and installers are increasingly recommending this solution, especially in roofs with wooden structures or in buildings with difficult access to wiring. While this is not a legal requirement in Poland, it enhances safety and can affect insurance terms.
