The GoodWe ESA series is a single-phase hybrid all-in-one solution, combining a PV inverter and energy storage in one factory-assembled, pre-wired enclosure. This design simplifies installation, while the entire unit occupies less space than a traditional inverter-plus-battery setup. The ESA is ideal for homes prioritizing self-consumption, energy storage operation, and backup power - the system features UPS switching, enabling rapid power supply to selected circuits during grid outages.
The 2 MPPT capability enhances performance by optimizing energy harvest from panels with varying roof tilts, unequal string lengths, or partial shading. Its high European efficiency ensures superior energy production under typical operating conditions in Poland, beyond ideal laboratory settings.
Monitoring is accessible via the SEMS portal and app, with communication options including WiFi or wired solutions (depending on configuration). ESA is compatible with LFP batteries, and its weatherproof enclosure facilitates indoor or outdoor mounting. In practice, this series is suited for demanding residential and small business installations, where energy storage and independence are key priorities.

Pros and cons
The PV inverter, LFP battery, and BMS are factory-integrated into a single IP66 enclosure. According to GoodWe's official materials, the installation time is significantly shorter compared to a traditional inverter + separate battery setup, and the wall space required is smaller - a significant advantage in typical Polish boiler rooms.
The time to switch to emergency mode is less than 4 ms (data from GoodWe), which is sufficient for computer equipment, routers, and refrigerators. According to EN 62040-3, systems with a switching time of less than 20 ms are classified as VFI - the system in question meets this requirement.
The maximum CEC/Euro efficiency of the GoodWe EN series (models 3-6 kW, as per the datasheet) reaches 97.6%, placing it in the top quartile of single-phase hybrid systems on the European market, exceeding the typical 96-97% efficiency range of mid-range competitors (e.g., Sofar Solar HYD, Solis RHI).
The allowable DC overload up to 200% of AC power allows for maximizing production with smaller panels (flat curve morning/evening). Models with 3-6 kW offer 2 MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking), while higher-power models offer 4 MPPT, enabling independent operation of different-oriented or partially shaded panels.
GoodWe has been featured on BNEF's Tier-1 list for many years (a recognized manufacturer). When installed by a certified installer, GoodWe offers a 10-year system warranty - longer than the standard 5-7 years offered by some competitors in the all-in-one segment.
The single-phase ESA does not include arc fault detection (AFCI) functionality (this feature is only available in the three-phase ESA 5-30 kW with AFCI 3.0). As installation standards in the EU become stricter (EN 62443, building regulations), the lack of AFCI may pose a challenge for certain projects or require additional external protection.
The ESA series (3-10 kW) is exclusively designed for single-phase networks. Households with a 3-phase connection (becoming increasingly common, especially in new buildings and with heat pumps >3.5 kW) must choose either the ESA series or another GoodWe series (e.g., ET), which prevents direct use of this series.
