GoodWe ET (ET Series) are three-phase hybrid inverters designed for PV installations with energy storage - from extensive homes to commercial and industrial sites. Their key feature is the focus on operation in various scenarios: self-consumption, backup power supply support, and intelligent energy flow management, especially when working with additional devices (e.g., switching to UPS backup power).
A key advantage is the multi-string MPPT - depending on the model variant, you may find several, and in the most powerful units, even multiple trackers. This provides real benefits with panels of different orientations, uneven soiling, and partial shading, as each string can operate closer to its own optimum.
High European efficiency means fewer losses under typical climatic conditions, thus ensuring a more stable energy production throughout the year. Monitoring via SEMS and communication (WiFi or Ethernet - depending on configuration) facilitates diagnostics, reporting, and service. The ET series is compatible with selected energy storage systems (including GoodWe Lynx systems and popular HV batteries), and the standard requirements include grid certifications and the possibility of extending the warranty.

Pros and cons
The ET PLUS models achieve a maximum efficiency of 98.2%, while the ET 15-30 kW series achieves 98.0%. These values are competitive with leading three-phase inverters (such as SMA Sunny Tripower and Fronius Symo), resulting in lower conversion losses and a higher annual energy yield.
The switching time to the backup power source is less than 10 ms (for models 5-30 kW) and less than 4 ms for models 75-100 kW, which meets the requirements for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. For comparison, standard off-grid solutions have switching times of 20-100 ms, which excludes certain sensitive devices that are vulnerable to power outages.
The ET series supports DC string oversizing up to 150% (ET 15-30 kW), 160% (ET G2), and 200% (ET LV), with 2-3 independent MPPT trackers available depending on the variant (up to 20A per string in ET LV). This allows for efficient operation on installations with different roof orientations and partial shading, without the need for optimizers.
GoodWe implemented the AFCI 3.0 function in the ET series, based on deep learning and compliant with IEC 63027. The system detects an electrical arc up to 200 meters away and initiates a shutdown within 500 ms - this exceeds the requirements of the standard and enhances fire safety compared to devices without certified AFCI.
The SEMS monitoring system allows for simultaneous access for the owner, installer, and EPC with different permissions. It provides live and historical views, alarm management, and reporting - which reduces the time required for remote diagnostics and lowers the ongoing maintenance costs throughout the installation's lifespan.
The ET series backup power supply does not support simultaneous operation with other inverters (e.g., an AC generator or another PV inverter) - it lacks the Volt/Freq control functionality that would force the external power source to disconnect. This limits its use in hybrid multi-source systems without additional automation.
In some GW10K-ET units, self-consumption was recorded at 100-600 W, instead of the nominal 25-40 W for the hybrid inverter. This issue can be resolved with a firmware update (v1.33+), but requires active intervention from the installer and indicates inadequate quality control in certain production batches.
