GoodWe ET series are hybrid three-phase inverters designed for installations where simultaneous self-consumption, energy storage, and assured backup power are crucial. These devices feature intelligent operational modes - including load management, time-of-use operation, and peak-shaving - helping to reduce peak power demand. The implemented multi-string MPPT facilitates optimized energy yield, especially when panels are in different orientations or partially shaded.

High European efficiency translates to genuinely better performance under typical Polish conditions - not just under ideal sunlight but also with variable weather. Monitoring is convenient via communication (e.g., Wi-Fi and Ethernet) and an app that allows tracking of energy production, consumption, and storage operation. The ET series is compatible with high-voltage energy storage systems (e.g., GoodWe Lynx Home F), and the entire system includes required network certifications and manufacturer warranty. This is an excellent choice for larger homes and small to medium-sized businesses.

Pros and cons

5 positive · 3 caution
What owners get
Maximum efficiency of up to 98.2%

The ET PLUS+ series achieves a maximum efficiency of 98.2%, while the 15-30 kW models achieve 98.0%. This represents a significantly higher annual yield compared to mid-range competitors (typically 97.5-97.8%), particularly in Poland, where variable solar irradiation is common.

Support for up to 3 independent MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) systems

The ET series offers several variants with 2 or 3 independent MPPT inputs, allowing you to connect strings of panels with different orientations or tilt angles, and minimizing shading losses without the need for optimizers.

EPS switching time < 10 ms (UPS level)

The time it takes to switch to backup mode (EPS/backup) is less than 10 ms, which meets the power supply requirements for sensitive devices (servers, medical equipment) specified by UPS systems. Most competing three-phase hybrid inverters operate in the range of 20-100 ms.

Peak-shaving and tariff management terms of use

Built-in peak-shaving (reducing peak energy consumption from the grid) and Time-of-Use (managing charging/discharging according to hourly rates) features are particularly valuable for small businesses that use time-of-use tariffs or for collective prosumers.

Wide voltage range for the battery (180-600 V)

Compatibility with high-voltage batteries in the range of 180-600 V allows for use with GoodWe Lynx Home F, BYD HVS/HVM, and other HV batteries, increasing the flexibility in choosing a battery without the need for voltage converters.

Trade-offs
Resistance to degradation at high temperatures.

Independent reviews (Clean Energy Reviews, SolarQuotes AU) indicate that ET inverters may reduce power output on hot days due to limitations in convective cooling, which, during the summer months with high solar irradiance, can slightly reduce actual output compared to the specified values.

Low-quality WiFi module

Users and installers (on forums like SolarQuotes and DIY Solar Forum) consistently report issues with Wi-Fi disconnections and false alarms from the communication module. Monitoring through the SEMS portal is often outdated; it is recommended to use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.

Escalation to the central service department in China

In the case of more serious technical issues, support is directed directly to GoodWe's headquarters in Suzhou. However, due to language and time zone barriers, this can extend the time it takes for Polish installers and end-users to resolve the problem.

About the ET series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this model's own.

What is the warranty on GoodWe ET series inverters, and is it possible to extend it?
The standard manufacturer's warranty for GoodWe ET series inverters is 10 years. In addition, GoodWe has launched a free hybrid warranty extension program up to 10 years, covering the ET 15-30 kW and ET 40-50 kW series - this applies to devices with energy storage systems that were activated between May 15, 2023, and December 31, 2026. This is one of the best warranty offers available for Tier 1 inverters on the Polish market.
What does the MPPT feature of the GoodWe ET inverter mean, and what are the implications for installations on complex roofs?
GoodWe ET inverters are equipped with 2 or 3 independent MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controllers, depending on the model's power - for example, 8-12 kW models have 2 MPPT controllers, while 15-30 kW models have 3 MPPT controllers. Each controller operates within a range of 120-850 V. This allows panels on different roof orientations or with varying levels of shading to operate independently, which realistically increases energy yield in typical mounting conditions in Poland.
Does the GoodWe ET inverter function as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) during a power outage, and how quickly does it switch to backup power?
Yes, the ET series supports EPS (emergency power) mode with an attached energy storage system. The switchover time to backup power is very short - in the order of tens of milliseconds, which, in practice, means that most devices switch to battery power without any noticeable interruption. This feature requires proper wiring of the backup circuit during installation and is particularly appreciated by businesses and homes with sensitive electrical equipment.
What is peak shaving in a GoodWe ET inverter, and who benefits from it?
Peak shaving involves automatically discharging the energy storage system when the power consumption exceeds a set limit, thereby limiting peak demand from the grid. This can realistically lower electricity bills for consumers on time-of-use tariffs or companies with limited grid connection capacity. The function is configured in the ET inverter via the SEMS Portal application, specifying the target power threshold - the inverter then manages the rest automatically.
Which energy storage systems are compatible with the GoodWe ET inverter?
The ET series is designed to work with GoodWe's high-voltage (HV) energy storage systems, primarily the Lynx Home F and Lynx Home F PLUS+. These batteries offer a capacity of 6.6 to 16.4 kWh per tower, and multiple towers can be connected in parallel to a single inverter. The supported battery voltage range is 150-720 V. Due to its HV architecture, the system has lower transmission losses and a higher overall efficiency compared to low-voltage systems.
What is the efficiency achieved by the GoodWe ET inverter under Polish weather conditions?
The European Efficiency (EU Efficiency) rating for the ET series is 97.5%, with a maximum efficiency of 98.0-98.2% in newer G2 models. The European Efficiency rating is a key parameter for the Polish climate, as it is calculated under variable, typical Central European solar conditions - it provides a more realistic picture than peak performance alone. This means that the ET inverter performs well in both cloudy and sunny conditions, which translates to a higher annual energy production.
