The WST-BKX54-B2 WBC Ultra Black G2 series from WINAICO is a residential-focused module line where rooftop aesthetics go hand in hand with high energy yield. The back-contact (WBC) technology used here eliminates visible cell grids and busbars from the front surface, giving the panel a uniform, deep black appearance without the characteristic grid effect seen on conventional half-cut modules. This makes the series particularly appealing to installers and homeowners for whom roof appearance matters just as much as electrical performance - for example, on visible, street-facing roof sections of single-family homes. The modules use bifacial N-type monocrystalline cells in a glass-glass construction, delivering additional energy yield from the rear side and greater resistance to long-term degradation compared to conventional P-type structures. A black anodized frame ties the whole design together in a consistent color scheme. The series is certified for PID resistance and offers enhanced resistance to snow loads and hailstorms, with production carried out without the use of PFAS. WINAICO backs the modules with a 30-year product warranty and a linear power warranty, making this series a solid choice for anyone seeking a durable, aesthetically consistent PV solution for a single-family rooftop.

About the WST-BKX54-B2 WBC Ultra Black G2 Series series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this module's own.

What is the difference between WINAICO WST-BKX54-B2 back-contact (WBC) technology and classic half-cut modules?
In back-contact (WBC) technology, all busbars and grid lines are moved to the back of the cell, giving the front surface a uniform, deep black appearance with no visible metallization lines. Classic half-cut modules have visible busbars on the front, resulting in a less aesthetic, grid-like look. WBC also slightly improves energy yield since it eliminates shading of the surface caused by conductive elements.
Are WINAICO WBC Ultra Black G2 panels bifacial, and does that actually translate into more energy?
Yes, the series uses bifacial N-type monocrystalline cells in a glass-glass construction. The rear side of the module also generates energy from light reflected off the roof or surroundings, which in typical rooftop installations can add a few percent of extra yield depending on roof color and mounting angle. N-type cells are also more resistant to long-term degradation than classic P-type structures.
What is the maximum power output of the WST-BKX54-B2 series, and is it enough for a single-family home?
Modules in this series reach up to 500 Wp. For a typical single-family home with a 4-6 kWp demand, 8 to 12 panels are usually sufficient, depending on energy consumption and available roof area. The high per-unit power allows fewer modules to be used to reach the target system size.
What warranty covers WINAICO Ultra Black G2 panels, and what does a linear power warranty mean in practice?
The manufacturer provides a 30-year product warranty along with a 30-year linear power warranty. A linear warranty means performance degradation is spread evenly over time rather than in step drops as seen in older warranty models. In practice, after 30 years the module should still produce a significant share of its original power, with a guaranteed performance level specified for each year of operation.
Does the black frame and black surface of the WBC Ultra Black G2 affect heating and summer performance?
A darker surface can heat up slightly more on sunny days, which theoretically reduces output since PV cells lose power at higher temperatures. WINAICO offsets this with the glass-glass construction and back-contact technology, which help dissipate heat. In practice, the performance difference compared to standard modules is minimal, and the uniform black aesthetic is the main reason customers choose this series.
Are WINAICO WST-BKX54-B2 panels resistant to hail and heavy snow loads, important for roofs in Poland?
Yes, the series has certified enhanced resistance to snow loads and hail impact, which matters in the Polish climate with heavy winter snowfall and summer hailstorms. The modules also carry PID (Potential Induced Degradation) resistance certification, ensuring stable system performance throughout the warranty period even under high system voltage.
