The S-Energy SE65-72BGJ series is a range of bifacial modules in a monocrystalline configuration, designed to maximize energy yield not only from the front, but also from reflections off the ground. In practice, this means better performance in ground-mounted systems, on sunny roofs, and anywhere where the albedo can be deliberately utilized - without the need to add additional panels.

Compared to many standard solutions, these modules stand out due to their glass-to-glass construction with anti-reflective coating, which supports stable operation and resistance to varying weather conditions. The use of large cells and a high cell density helps to effectively utilize the module's surface area, which will be appreciated by investors with limited mounting space.

Another important advantage is the positive power tolerance, which means that the installation starts operating closer to the expected power output. The IP68 sealed junction box also facilitates safe operation in environments exposed to moisture and dust. This makes it a good choice for PV farms, large commercial roofs, and prosumer installations aimed at maximizing energy generation.

Common questions

6 answered
Does bifacial technology in the S-Energy SE65-72BGJ series actually increase energy output?
Yes. Bifacial modules generate electricity from both sides — the front and the rear, which captures light reflected from the ground surface (albedo effect). With light-colored ground cover such as concrete, gravel, or a white roofing membrane, or in ground-mount systems with sufficient clearance, yield can increase by 5–25% compared to conventional monofacial panels. The benefit grows with brighter surroundings and greater mounting height above the surface.
What warranty does the S-Energy SE65-72BGJ series carry?
The manufacturer provides a 12-year product warranty covering materials and workmanship, and a 25-year linear power warranty guaranteeing at least 80.7% of rated output after 25 years of operation. The positive power tolerance ensures every module leaves the factory producing at or above its nameplate wattage.
What does the glass-glass construction in SE65-72BGJ modules mean, and why is it better than a standard backsheet?
In a glass-glass design, the conventional plastic EVA backsheet is replaced with a thin tempered glass layer. This makes the module significantly more resistant to moisture ingress, cell microcracks, and PID (potential induced degradation), resulting in lower long-term power loss. The tradeoff is slightly higher module weight compared to backsheet panels, which must be accounted for in structural design.
Is the SE65-72BGJ series suitable for residential rooftops, or is it designed only for utility-scale farms?
While the series is optimized for ground-mount systems and large commercial rooftops — where the bifacial rear-side gain is maximized — it also performs well on light-colored, well-ventilated residential roofs. Up to 545 Wp per module allows building a high-capacity prosumer system in a smaller footprint. The IP68-rated junction box and glass-glass construction add durability in harsh weather conditions.
Where is S-Energy headquartered, and is it a reliable PV manufacturer?
S-Energy is a South Korean photovoltaic manufacturer based in Gyeonggi-do, operating since 2001 as a spin-off from Samsung's PV division. The company is listed on the Korean KOSDAQ exchange and runs its own factory with approximately 500 MW per year capacity. S-Energy is not currently ranked as a Bloomberg NEF Tier-1 manufacturer, which is worth considering when evaluating long-term warranty support.
What is the peak power output of the S-Energy SE65-72BGJ, and does positive power tolerance matter in practice?
Peak power in the SE65-72BGJ series is 545 Wp at STC. Positive power tolerance means no module ships below its nameplate rating. For a 20-panel system, this means the installation operates at full or above-rated capacity from day one. Over a 25-year power warranty period, that consistently higher baseline translates into meaningfully more energy produced compared to modules at the low end of tolerance.
