Hyundai DG G12 PERC Shingled (HiE-S410DG(FB) - HiE-S425DG(FB)) modules are designed for maximum yield from the same roof surface - without compromising aesthetics and durability. The application of shingled technology increases the active cell surface density and minimizes typical losses associated with traditional busbar connections. This translates to more stable performance, even under suboptimal sunlight conditions or partial shading.

The modules in the Full Black version are ideal for modern roofs where the appearance of the installation matters - especially in residential and premium settings. This series is engineered for demanding environmental conditions - crucial in locations exposed to moisture, pollution, and harsher climates. An additional advantage is resistance to PID and LID, which helps maintain high efficiency over the long term. The entire design is bolstered by a robust construction focused on longevity, making this series a sensible choice for residential and small commercial installations where reliable energy production and peace of mind are priorities.

What owners get
Shingled technology - superior shade tolerance

Laser-cut cells bonded in an overlapping configuration eliminate busbar ribbons, maximizing active cell area and creating independent current paths. This results in lower mismatch losses under partial shading compared to standard half-cut PERC modules - a meaningful advantage on rooftops with chimneys, dormers, or neighboring obstructions.

20.6-21.4% efficiency - competitive in segment

The top-bin HiE-S425DG reaches 21.4% module efficiency - matching Tongwei TERRA 5K (21.4%) and exceeding Trina Solar Vertex S (21.3%) by 0.1 percentage points. Across the 410-425 Wp power range, this positions the series at the leading edge of comparable G12 PERC modules available in the European market.

Full Black variant - premium aesthetics

The FB version (black frame + black backsheet) targets premium residential rooftops where visual uniformity is a key buyer requirement. At this efficiency tier, true all-black module options remain limited, giving the DG FB a tangible differentiator in the single-family premium segment.

Anti-PID & anti-LID + 0.55%/yr linear degradation

The datasheet confirms PID and LID resistance, with a linear power warranty capped at 0.55% annual degradation from year two onward, guaranteeing ≥84.8% of nominal power at 25 years. These parameters align with PERC premium-tier standards comparable to Trina Solar Vertex S.

Tier-1 bankable manufacturer - warranty credibility

Hyundai Energy Solutions (HQ: South Korea, est. 2004) holds Tier-1 bankable status. Bankability means project-finance lenders accept the product risk, directly underpinning the credibility of the 25-year product and power warranty - a critical criterion for any long-term residential or light commercial installation.

Trade-offs
Series discontinued (EOL 2024)

The DG G12 series reached end-of-life in 2024 (launched 2022). New units are available only from distributor stock, with supply steadily diminishing. Replacing a failed module within a 5-10 year horizon will require sourcing from the secondary market (e.g., pvXchange, secondsol), complicating like-for-like replacement and potentially creating electrical mismatch within the array.

Monofacial PERC - no bifacial gain

Unlike peer comparable DAS Solar DAON mini Bifacial Double Glass (21.8% / bifacial, 425 Wp), the HiE-S DG series produces no rear-side energy. On installations over high-albedo surfaces (light gravel, concrete, snow), bifacial modules can deliver 5-15% additional annual yield - an advantage this series cannot capture.

About the DG G12 PERC Shingled (HiE-S410DG(FB) / HiE-S415DG(FB) / HiE-S420DG(FB) / HiE-S425DG(FB)) series

6 answered

These answers cover the whole series. Where a figure differs, the specification above is this module's own.

Is the Hyundai DG G12 PERC Shingled series (HiE-S410DG-HiE-S425DG) still available for purchase?
The Hyundai DG G12 PERC Shingled series has been discontinued and is no longer offered as a new product by authorized distributors. Occasional stock may still be found at wholesalers, but availability is very limited. If you need a current Hyundai Energy Solutions alternative with comparable cell technology, contact your distributor about newer series.
What warranty comes with the Hyundai HiE-S425DG panels - does it cover power output degradation?
Hyundai provides a 25-year product warranty covering material and workmanship defects, along with a 25-year linear power output warranty. This means the manufacturer guarantees module efficiency will stay above a defined degradation threshold for a full quarter century - one of the strongest warranty packages in the residential and small commercial PV segment.
What does shingled technology in the Hyundai DG G12 panels actually do compared to conventional ribbon-busbar connections?
In a shingled module, cells are laser-cut into narrow strips and bonded in overlapping layers - eliminating metal busbars. This increases the active cell area within the same frame size (1,812 × 1,096 mm) and removes shading losses caused by ribbons. The result is higher energy yield per square meter and more stable output under low irradiance or partial shading conditions.
Are the Hyundai HiE-S425DG(FB) Full Black panels suitable for a pitched residential roof?
Yes. At 20.8 kg and 1,812 × 1,096 × 30 mm, the module fits standard pitched-roof mounting systems (hooks and aluminum rails). It is rated for up to 5,400 Pa snow load and 2,400 Pa wind load, meeting typical Central European climate requirements. The Full Black aesthetic pairs well with dark roof tiles or standing-seam metal roofing.
How do Hyundai DG G12 PERC Shingled panels perform under partial shading - for example from a chimney or dormer?
Shingled architecture inherently reduces partial-shading losses because each module contains many small cell strips connected in parallel rather than full cell rows as in standard PERC designs. The series also carries PID and LID resistance, preventing permanent efficiency degradation. For installations with complex shading patterns, pairing these modules with power optimizers or microinverters is still recommended.
What is the maximum power output of the Hyundai DG G12 PERC Shingled series and what efficiency does the panel achieve?
The top model in the series is the HiE-S425DG(FB) at 425 Wp. Module efficiency is approximately 20.6% for the 410 W variant and around 21.3% for the 425 W model - competitive for a monofacial PERC design. The 305-cell G12 format (210 mm cells) in shingled configuration maximizes energy harvest per roof area without requiring more expensive TOPCon or HJT technology.
