Light for its output, weak in heat
The Gamko New Energy GKA166M144 series consists of monocrystalline modules based on PERC technology, designed for stable operation in real rooftop and ground-mounted conditions. The use of half-cut architecture and MBB technology improves power generation and reduces losses in connections, resulting in better energy production even with partial shading and in less sunny conditions. The PID resistance is also noteworthy, which is important in installations exposed to more demanding conditions and long cable runs. The modules have positive power tolerance, which makes string design easier without the risk of actual performance falling below the expected level. The design is prepared for operation in a demanding environment thanks to tests for resistance to corrosive factors such as salt fog and ammonia. This is a reasonable choice for installers and investors looking for predictable performance in residential, commercial, and PV farm applications.

Splitting cells in half reduces internal resistance, while the multi-busbar (MBB) architecture lowers interconnection losses. In practice, this translates to better energy yield under partial shading conditions - a meaningful advantage in typical rooftop installations where uniform irradiance is rarely achievable.
The manufacturer guarantees at least 84.8% of rated power output after 30 years of operation, a figure comparable to the warranties offered by leading Tier-1 suppliers. For projects with a 20-25 year investment horizon, this is a tangible factor in LCOE calculations.
The 440-460 Wp power range with a 0/+5 W tolerance ensures that no module ships below its rated nameplate value. This makes string design more straightforward and means real-world system output meets or exceeds design projections.
The modules carry certified resistance to Potential Induced Degradation (PID), which is especially important in systems with long DC cable runs, high DC bus voltage, and high-humidity environments - conditions typical of utility-scale PV plants and industrial installations.
Certified to withstand a snow load of 5,400 Pa and a wind load of 2,400 Pa, these modules can be installed in climatic zones with heavy snowfall and high wind exposure (zones I-III per PN-EN 1991-1-3) without requiring additional reinforced mounting structures.
The series peaks at 21.02% module efficiency, while direct competitors in the same power class - the Risen RSM96-11-440-460BNDG at 23.00% and the SunKean SKT440~460M12-96D4 at 23.02% - demonstrate the gap clearly. A ~2 percentage point efficiency deficit means that, for the same roof area, a system built around the GKA166M144 will generate approximately 9-10% less energy than N-type modules from a comparable price segment.
Launched in 2022, the series is based on PERC technology, which has been steadily phased out of mass production since 2023-2024 in favor of TOPCon and HJT. By 2025, TOPCon's share of global module shipments exceeded 70% (per Wood Mackenzie). Choosing PERC today means investing in a technology with a shrinking ecosystem and a widening efficiency gap relative to current-generation products.
Gamko New Energy does not appear on the BNEF or RENVU Tier-1 module manufacturer lists for 2024-2025. This may be a consideration for bank financing of utility-scale PV projects - many lenders require modules from Tier-1 manufacturers - as well as for the future resale of installations.
- Module efficiency of 20.6% is 1.9pp below average for TOPCon 450-500W panels (median: 22.5%)
- Power density of 205.7 W/m² is 19.5 W/m² below TOPCon 450-500W median (225.2 W/m²) - needs more roof space
- Temperature coefficient of -0.36%/°C is 0.07pp worse than TOPCon 450-500W median (-0.29%/°C) - higher losses in summer heat
- At 21.0 kg, this panel is 3.0 kg lighter than TOPCon 450-500W median (24.0 kg) - easier handling during installation
- In the top 80% for efficiency among all TOPCon panels
