Warranty pick, needs the roof space
The AE Solar AE MD-132BS series is designed as a bifacial monocrystalline module, which effectively increases energy yield in situations where every square meter of roof or ground matters. The use of half-cut monocrystalline solar cells improves performance under partial shading and reduces losses due to heating, resulting in more stable operation of the system in typical Polish weather conditions. Thanks to its bifacial design, the panel can also utilize reflected light from a bright surface - this is a practical advantage, for example, on roofs with light membranes, carports, and ground-mounted installations.
A key feature of the series is the combination of high cell packing density with robust resistance to environmental conditions and a high level of quality, which minimizes the risk of performance degradation over time. The AE MD-132BS is a sensible choice for installers and investors seeking long-term predictability of energy yields in residential, small business, and agricultural projects, without paying for unnecessary features in a typical installation.

AE Solar has been listed in BNEF's Tier 1 ranking for 16 consecutive editions and, in the 2024 bankability report, ranked 18th out of 67 evaluated manufacturers - as the only European entity in the Tier 1 category. The bankability index increased from 26% (2023) to 50% (2024), which significantly reduces the financial risk for investors and project banks.
The manufacturer guarantees a minimum of 81.55% of the nominal power output for 30 years, with a 15-year product warranty. In the PERC bifacial single-glass segment, this is one of the longest power output warranty terms, providing predictability for long-term financial calculations.
Bifacial technology allows for the absorption of reflected light from the ground, which, in ground-mounted installations on bright surfaces or roofs with white membranes, can translate into a real increase in yield of 5-15% compared to a monofacial module with the same rated power. This applies, among other things, to carport structures and agrivoltaics.
The value of -0.35%/°C places the series at the lower (more favorable) end for PERC technology. On hot days, when the modules reach 70-75°C, the difference compared to weaker coefficients (-0.37 to -0.40%/°C) could mean a 1-2% higher daily yield.
Dividing the cells in half reduces the series resistance and limits the "hot-spot" effect when partially shaded. In Polish conditions, where roof-mounted systems are often exposed to shading from chimneys, antennas, or adjacent buildings, this results in a more stable daily power generation profile.
The AE MD-132BS model is marked as discontinued. This means that identical modules for expanding the system are no longer available, warranty service availability is limited in the event of mass claims, and there is a risk of not finding replacements in the event of individual panel failures over a few years.
Two of the three comparable series - the Sunova Tangra M Pro HD and the Q-SUN Solar Qrystal N10 - achieve an efficiency of 22.7% at the same 505 Wp power, which translates to a smaller area needed to achieve the same power output. The difference of 1.4% in efficiency means that the AE MD-132BS requires approximately 6.5% more area, which could be significant in installations with limited roof space.
Comparable Sunova and Q-SUN Solar modules, which utilize N-type TOPCon cells, exhibit lower LID/LeTID degradation rates and better performance under diffuse light conditions. PERC (P-type) modules show a LID of 1-2% in the first year of operation, while TOPCon modules declare a LID below 1%, which, over a 30-year period, translates into a difference in cumulative energy yield.
Leading N-type TOPCon series (e.g., Q CELLS Q.TRON, Jinko Tiger Neo) guarantee a power output of 87-88% after 30 years. The 81.55% AE MD-132BS value indicates a greater cumulative power loss and lower energy yield in the final decade of operation, which could impact the IRR (Internal Rate of Return) of projects calculated over the full warranty period.
- At 20.4% efficiency, this panel is on par with typical PERC 450-500W modules
- At 204.4 W/m², this panel generates 4.1 W/m² less per unit area than PERC 450-500W median (208.5 W/m²)
- Temperature coefficient of -0.35%/°C matches the PERC 450-500W median
- Bifaciality factor of 70% can add 4-10% extra yield with reflective mounting surface
- #11632 for efficiency, #10489 for temperature performance out of 14129 panels
