## Summary

SolarWorld was a German photovoltaic manufacturer headquartered in Bonn, founded in 1988 by Frank Asbeck, and for years was considered one of Europe's flagship solar producers, earning Tier 1 bankability recognition at its peak. The company built a reputation on German-engineered quality and was the first manufacturer to receive France's "Made in Europe" certification. However, SolarWorld filed for insolvency in 2017, unable to compete against collapsing global panel prices driven by Chinese overcapacity. A brief revival as SolarWorld Industries GmbH followed, but that entity also entered bankruptcy in 2018. Meyer Burger acquired the Freiberg factory in 2020, and SunPower purchased the U.S. subsidiary before shutting it down in 2021. SolarWorld is therefore no longer an active manufacturer - panels still circulating are new-old-stock or refurbished inventory. A.B. Energy is a small Italian company based in Orzinuovi, in the Brescia province, whose primary business is cogeneration - combined heat and power systems - rather than photovoltaic module production. Its ENF Solar listing places it as a component seller in Italy, not a volume panel manufacturer. Neither company currently holds a meaningful institutional footprint in the active global PV market.

In terms of product families, SolarWorld was best known during its active years for its Sunmodule range of monocrystalline panels and for its "Bisun" bifacial line aimed at residential and light commercial rooftops in European markets. Warranty terms - notably a 20-year product guarantee and a 0.5% annual degradation cap - were a genuine differentiator at the time. A.B. Energy, given its cogeneration focus, does not appear to have an established solar panel product line confirmed by independent review sources, making a like-for-like technology comparison - cell architecture, efficiency bands, or warranty structure - impossible to substantiate.

For any buyer evaluating options in 2025 or 2026, neither brand can be recommended as a primary choice. SolarWorld panels purchased today carry obsolescence and warranty-support risk because the original manufacturer no longer exists to back those guarantees. A.B. Energy lacks the reviewed product catalog and market presence needed to qualify as a bankable panel supplier for most residential or commercial projects. Buyers would be better served by an actively producing Tier 1 manufacturer with verified support infrastructure.
