## About this series

The VSUN Mars Series consists of modules designed for high energy production in real-world Polish installations, even when the roof is not perfectly sunlit throughout the day. The use of **N-type TOPCon cells** helps to minimize typical losses and degradation over time, resulting in more stable operation of the installation for years. In practice, this means fewer disappointments after a few seasons and better predictability of energy yields.

The **half-cut technology** also deserves attention, as it makes the module more efficient under partial shading and reduces the risk of power drops across the entire panel. Furthermore, **multibusbar (MBB)** improves current collection from the cells and supports higher efficiency without increasing the surface area. You will also find **dual-glass and bifacial construction** in many variants, which increases mechanical strength and allows for the utilization of light reflected from the ground.

This is a good choice for roofs of houses, carports, and commercial installations, where durability, resistance to shading, and long-term profitability are important.

## Notable figures

- At 21.2% efficiency, this panel is 0.6pp below the \*\*database\*\* median of 21.8%
- Power density of 212.5 W/m² is 5.6 W/m² below \*\*database\*\* median (218.1 W/m²) - needs more roof space
- Temperature coefficient of -0.35%/°C is 0.05pp worse than \*\*database\*\* median (-0.30%/°C) - higher losses in summer heat
- At 34.5 kg (8.0 kg above \*\*database\*\* median of 26.5 kg), requires checking roof load capacity
- Ranked #8904 out of 14005 panels for efficiency in the database

## Questions

### What is the maximum power output of VSUN Mars Series panels and how many are needed for a typical installation?

VSUN Mars Series panels reach up to 665 Wp. Thanks to this high per-module output, a 10 kWp installation requires only around 15 panels, saving roof space and reducing the number of mounts, cabling, and installation time compared to older, lower-power modules.

### What warranty comes with VSUN Mars Series panels?

VSUN Mars Series comes with a 12-year product warranty covering material and workmanship defects, plus a 25-year linear power warranty. This means that even after a quarter century of operation, the panel should still deliver a significant share of its rated power, supporting predictable long-term returns on investment.

### What is N-type TOPCon technology in VSUN Mars Series panels, and is it worth the extra cost?

TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) is an N-type cell technology that reduces surface electron recombination, resulting in higher efficiency and lower power degradation over time compared to older P-type PERC cells. In practice, this means higher energy yields throughout the panel's lifespan, so the premium for TOPCon typically pays off within several years.

### Do VSUN Mars Series panels handle partial shading well, for example from a chimney or antenna?

Yes, the modules use half-cut cell technology, splitting each cell into two halves. This means shade falling on one part of the panel doesn't disable the whole circuit, only reducing output in the shaded section. A roof with a dormer, chimney, or satellite dish won't drastically cut the entire system's efficiency the way it would with older panels lacking this technology.

### Are VSUN Mars Series panels bifacial (double-sided)?

This particular variant of the VSUN Mars Series is a monofacial panel, designed for standard mounting on a pitched roof. VSUN does offer dual-glass bifacial variants within the same product line, which additionally capture light reflected off the ground - worth checking if rear-side energy generation is important for your setup.

### Is VSUN a Tier 1 manufacturer, and where are Mars Series panels made?

VSUN is not currently listed as a Tier 1 manufacturer under the Bloomberg NEF classification, although the company is headquartered in Germany and has operated in the European market for years. Lacking Tier 1 status mainly reflects a company's project financing scale, not the technical quality or durability of the modules themselves.
