## About this series

The Ulica Solar QIN series (double-glass bifacial, N-type) is designed to maximize energy yield in installations where every square meter counts. A key advantage is the **glass-glass construction**, which improves resistance to environmental factors and stabilizes operating parameters over the long term. Thanks to **bifacial operation**, the modules can effectively utilize reflected light from the ground, which effectively increases power generation in PV farms, carport structures, and flat roofs with reflective membranes.

The QIN series utilizes **N-type TOPCon technology**, optimized for lower degradation and better performance in demanding conditions. In addition, connection and metallization solutions minimize losses and shading of the active surface, resulting in **higher power density for the same module area** and a more favorable energy cost over the lifespan. This is a proposal for investors and contractors who expect **high reliability** and predictable yields in commercial and large-scale projects.

## Notable figures

- Efficiency of 23.3% is 0.6pp above the \*\*N-type 600-650W\*\* median (22.8%)
- Power density of 233.2 W/m² packs 5.5 W/m² more into the same footprint vs \*\*N-type 600-650W\*\* median (227.7 W/m²)
- At -0.29%/°C, hot weather performance is typical for \*\*N-type 600-650W\*\* panels
- In the top 7% for efficiency among all N-type panels

## Questions

### What is the maximum power output of the Ulica Solar QIN series panels, and how many modules are needed for a typical 10 kW installation?

QIN series panels reach up to 645 Wp, placing them among the highest-power bifacial N-type modules currently available. Thanks to this high unit power, a 10 kW installation requires only about 16 modules, compared to 20-25 with older 400-450 Wp panels. This translates into fewer mounting clamps, shorter installation time, and lower racking cost per kW installed.

### What is the N-type TOPCon cell technology used in QIN panels, and how does it differ from standard PERC cells?

TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) is an N-type cell technology in which a thin oxide layer passivates the electrical contacts, reducing recombination losses. Compared to widely used PERC (P-type) cells, N-type cells show lower annual degradation and perform better at high temperatures and low irradiance. In practice, this means higher and more stable energy yield over the installation's lifetime.

### Is it worth paying extra for bifacial panels in the QIN series, or is a standard mono-facial panel a better choice?

QIN bifacial panels generate additional energy from the rear side of the module by capturing light reflected off the ground. The premium makes sense mainly for PV farms with bright ground cover or gravel, carports, and flat roofs with a light-colored membrane, where the extra yield can reach several to over ten percent. On a typical pitched roof with dark tiles, the bifacial gain will be much smaller, so it's worth consulting a system designer on the economics.

### What warranty does Ulica Solar offer on the QIN series - on the product and on power output?

The QIN series comes with a 15-year product warranty covering material and workmanship defects, plus a 30-year linear power output warranty. This means the manufacturer guarantees a specified minimum percentage of initial power even after three decades of operation, which is standard for modern N-type panels and helps investors plan returns on commercial-scale projects.

### Does the double-glass construction of QIN panels make installation harder due to extra weight?

Double-glass panels are typically somewhat heavier than standard glass-backsheet modules, but the difference rarely has a major impact on installation, since most racking systems for commercial and utility-scale projects are designed to accommodate this load. In return, the module gains better resistance to moisture ingress, microcracks, and PID degradation, which pays off especially in projects designed for 25-30 years of operation, such as PV farms or industrial roofs.

### Is Ulica Solar a Tier 1 manufacturer, and does that matter when choosing QIN panels?

Ulica Solar, headquartered in China, is not currently on the BloombergNEF Tier 1 list, which primarily reflects the scale of bank financing rather than product quality itself. QIN panels use proven N-type TOPCon technology and double-glass construction, also common among Tier 1 manufacturers. When choosing panels, it's worth checking certifications (IEC, TÜV), warranty terms, and references from completed projects rather than relying on Tier 1 status alone.
